ATLANTA — The nation's college students are tuned in to the presidential election and likely to go to the polls in far higher numbers than in previous years, according to a national poll released Thursday by Harvard University's Institute of Politics.
Nearly 72 percent of students said they were registered to vote and "definitely" plan to cast ballots in November, researchers found.
That would be a historic turnaround for an age group that has long been the most apathetic when it comes to voting.

The Harvard poll shows Sen. John Kerry with a 13-point lead over Bush among college students and that most students said the country is on the wrong track. Eighty-four percent of students said they talk about politics or current events at least once a week, according to the poll.
