Will Moderate Republicans Jump Ship? |
|
Remember back in 1994 when the repugs won the majority in both the house and senate and more than a few Democrats changed parties? In light of the radical turn that the right-wingers have taken and the very public displays that some of them have made in support of radical agendas, do you think some of the moderate Republicans might decide that they have had enough of the dishonesty and deceit of the Neocons and change parties?
I think it's even more likely if we can win control of the senate and reduce the repugs' hold on the house.

1. I think some of them might skip voting on President. |
|
Maybe they won't vote for Kerry, but they will be unable to bring themselves to reward Bush for his failures.

A friend of mine who lives in the Highland Park area in Texas (repug hell) and voted for Reagan twice, George HW twice, Dole, and Shrub will be voting for KERRY this year.
This is from a guy who has Reagan calendars in his office and an RNC card in his wallet. He says that Shrub is too stupid, too lazy and incompetent, and he has had enough. I was speechless and stunned.
So, yes, if this guy can vote for John Kerry, then there is hope that others will as well.

they're not going to defect en masse, like Democrats did to Reagan in 1980.
If Shrub wins and/or the party keeps moving to the Christian-fascist imperialist right, then you will probably see mass defection.

4. That's why I chose my DU name. |

My voting habits since 1992 have been very Democratic. I'd been seeing the Republican getting more and more extreme, and seeming to desire for power, rather than remain true to basic R values.
But it was during the 2000 campaign that I saw this come to a head. Bush43, in my view, just had no qualifications to act as a President. All he had, in my mind, was a former President as a father, and the willingness to be a figure head for Right Wing Extremists.
So I began thinking of changing parties. But I haven't yet. Maybe I just like the view from up here on the fence?

Moderate, informed Republicans will desert Bush in large numbers. Just like responsible Naderites, they realize that there is too much at stake to allow these madmen another four years so they will take a pragmatic path. They will either stay home, vote for Kerry, or vote Libertarian. The question is how many of them are left compared to the ignorami & fanatics that make up so much of the modern GOP?
