Kerry 65%, Bush 21% (local poll)
http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/front_page/1098446654156040.xml

Support for a measure that would repeal Multnomah County's income tax for schools, jails and social services is slipping among voters, according to a new poll conducted for The Oregonian and KATU (2).

<snip>

In the race for president, Democratic Sen. John Kerry led President Bush 65 percent to 21 percent in Multnomah County. That 3-1 Kerry ratio spells trouble for Bush statewide, said pollster Tim Hibbitts. Hibbitts said Bush needs 30 percent of the vote in Multnomah County to have a chance of carrying Oregon.

3. I just sent this on - I think that it is important
to send stuff like this on to our friends (and foes) who don't follow as closely as we do.

It's be nice to track some of the outlying suburban counties on election night...they'll tell us real fast how things are going.

Cheers!

6. Portland/Gresham Oregon
Washington County often decides Oregon elections (burb county) but with Bush onlt getting one in five votes in Multnomah, it may not matter.

7. I Have A Real Good Friend In Portland
He works the phones in the NW part of the city and says things are very Kerry these days.

I'm hopeful things do well in Springfield and Eugene...if those areas go Kerry, it's all over.

Cheers!

12. Looks good
I don't know the numbers, but it looks good here in Lane County. Jackson County is a disappointment though, the donation figures were higher for Dems but this poll has it heavy to Bush, still. *sigh* Don't understand.

It's too bad that Arkansas and West Virginia don't have a Portland.

15. I've been working my ass off to stop the tax repeal
Looks like we're winning! We won't let our kids and seniors down.

That repeal-the-tax measure is winning with the Rethugs in the county (who are, luckily, a small minority). WTF? For the ones with kids, are they happy sticking their kids in schools that close in April and are a 40-1 student/teacher ratio? Or, if they decide the public schools suck (because they voted to screw them over), do they not realize they have to fork out big, big bucks for private schools? The ones who don't have kids, do they not realize if the rug is pulled out from under our schools that people with kids are going to move out of the county and their Repuke property values are going to plummet?

What short-sighted dipshits. I just don't get it.

16. Good for you
I phone-banked the measure in the first place (2002).

Your summary is accurate. I think we'll win. :)

17. Yet another poll..
showing that those with the real target on their backs - those living in BLUE AMERICA - are trusting Kerry to protect them. :)

Meanwhile, in Podunktown, USA, Bobby Earl is concerned that "the terra-ists are gunna attack teh honkey-tonk.." :eyes:
