Sinclair: You can take your Cheerios & shove them
where the sun don't shine.

General Mills sent a sanctimonious canned response to my letter asking them to withdraw advertising from Sinclair over their anti-Kerry propoaganda film.

The cereal company says it is standing on the side of freedom of the press. Now isn't THAT special? Nothing like wrapping yourself up in the flag, etc. to defend fascism!

My e-mail reply:

"I strongly disagree with your company's stand on this issue.

Freedom of the press is important, but it also carries the responsibility to provide accurate and unbiased reporting. The people who made the "Stolen Honor" program for Sinclair Broadcasting are no more accredited journalists than my cats are, and presenting this program without providing the opposing point of view is plain wrong.

I actually AM a journalist and have always been a defender of press freedom. The Sinclair issue does not fall into this category.

May I remind you that the holding of a broadcasting license over our publicly-owned airwaves carries with it extra responsibility to ensure that the content of broadcasts is fair and that it gives equal time to opposing political candidates. Anything other than that is misuse of the public airwaves.

I will no longer purchase any products manufactured by General Mills, and wil advise friends and relatives to do the same."

:nopity:

1. I Just Read My Canned Letter From GM
fine, I still won't buy their products and was sad to learn that Cascadian Farms is part of GM now. Plenty of choices for organic foods too in Denver...bye, by Cascadian Farms

2. Nice reply
from you.

My reply to the reply got me the same first reply from them.

So no Cheerios here, or any of their other products. We have to make them feel this.
