Can we pick-off AR or OK? |
|
Arkansas. Land of Bill Clinton. You mean to tell me there's no possible way Kerry could steal this? I don't buy it. And I've heard stories OK isn't as red as they say, but I don't evidence to support that either way.

2. AR maybe (but probably not) |

OK no way. Even Brad Carson has to run as a conservative to have a chance down there. Bush will take OK by at least 15 points.

I think the fact that Coburn has performed as well as he has in the Oklahoma Senate race will provide some coattails for Kerry there - at the very least, it'll galvanize the Dems there and get us a high turnout. On the other hand - electoral-vote.com has Kerry down by 30 in Oklahoma - those would have to be some mighty long coattails.
On the other hand, Arkansas is close enough that a few judiciously-placed phone calls from the Dawg could make things VERY interesting. I'm quite opposed to the idea of him campaigning in person, in AR or anywhere else, though - I can't stand the idea of him placing his health at risk.

The 2 metro areas (Oklahoma City & Tulsa) historically go Repugnican. The rural areas are a toss-up. My area is strong Democratic.

9. Turn Big Dog and Wes Clark loose in Arkansas, and it may go Kerry... |
|
Oklahoma is more of a long-range prospect.
But Arkansas, I believe, is definitely within reach.

10. If the Dems could spare Clark for one day in OK, |
|
it would greatly increase the chances of Dem turnout here. We're so used to been ignored and vilified, any attention from the national party would go a long way. And insure a Carson victory over Coburn.
The strongest Democratic base in the state is Southeast Oklahoma. You remember it, the lesbian capital of the country. It's very rural and we're still clinging by our fingernails as the last bastion of sanity in this crazy state.

12. I do actually think Kerry can win AK |
|
I think we can only win OK if Kerry/Edwards win the popular vote by 10% margin, which would be a huge landslide.

Latest polls put * up by 20 or more in Oklahoma.
Now the Senate race in Oklahoma? That's different story. :-)
