What does the "Wolves" ad really mean?
Supposedly, the RNC's new "Wolves" ad shows terrorists (wolves) are waiting until they sense weakness to strike.

Well, they struck when Chimp was president. Did they sense weakness?

And with all the reports saying we're no safer now than in 2001, isn't there still 'weakness?'

How can this be an ad FOR the Chimp?

3. From a poster on the yahoo board:

sloggoforcouncil at yahoo said:
"Jesus said, Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn BUSHES, nor figs from thistles, are they? Even so every good tree bears good fruit, but the rotten tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree produce good fruit. (Matt. 7:15-18)

Nearly 1100 Dead Soldiers for no reason.
4 Million More in Poverty
5 Million more uninsured

All bad fruit of a false prophet.

Time to change the tree!"

- Between this and the boy who cried wolf analogy, I cant imagine what they were thinking running with this - LMAO

I hope this gets exposed for what it is.

14. I know how the repugs will counter your points....
Playing devil's role, we have to be ready to counter
the following:

45 Million freed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Women able to vote for first time in history in Afghan.
Girls can attend schools again in Afghan.
only 1100 soldiers lost Vs 1.5 Million lost freeing the
world from Hitler & Tojo.
120 Million Americans received taxcuts averaging $3500.
Majority of unisured are either illegals, young people
who do not want to pay for health insurance, and self insured.

18. my responses
Yes, the Iraqis are now free - free from clean drinking water, free from electricity and free from being able to bid on their own reconstruction. The Afghans are now free to produce record levels of Opium. Maybe girls in Kabul can attend schools... but, outside is still under control of warlords.

Hitler & Tojo also killed 10s of millions and had aggressively attacked their neighbors (Poland, central Europe & France for Hitler; China, the Philippines and Pearl Harbor for Tojo) and were threatening others. Hitler perpetrated the Holocaust & Tojo the Rape of Nanjing, two of the most despicable & genocidal acts in human history.

Yes, 120 million received a tax cut, but XX% went to the wealthy. The average of the middle class was $YYY and the tax cuts for the middle class & working class were more than offset by rises in property taxes, state taxes, health care costs, college tuition and overall inflation.

Uninsured have risen due to a rise in costs causing small employers to drop coverage or dramatically increase employee share of the costs.

So I guess Bush loses the dog lover vote by saying all dogs are related to terrorists.

6. The irony is amazing iisn't it?
But I read somewhere that they're trying to piggy-back on the success of Reagan's Bear ad, considered one of the most successful campaign commercials ever.

It fails, however, because Bush is a big giant failure and this just points it out. I also like the "crying wolf" angle to this, considering the lies about Iraq and the colorful terror chart.

7. More Animals in the Forest
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 11:51 AM by AntiSmirk
My favorite idiotic Reagan campaign commercial (1984) was the "There's a Bear in the Woods" spot. Now, the Bushies have their own scary animal lurking in the timber.

21. It means Rethugs down to last arrow in their quiver--would be laughable
but the media has never held Bush to account for abandoning the hunt for Osama bin Laden...remember Bush's boasting that "We're on the hunt!"

Bush failed to capture Osama at Tora Bora and the cowardly media stood silent and let him pivot and successfully tie Saddam Hussein to 9/11 and take the country to this disastrous war in Iraq!

It is now up to us, the voters, to hold Bush accountable on November 2nd!

showing a girl picking petals during the countdown of a cruise missile launch into Iran, the next stop on the Bush Empire '04 Tour.

But Americans won't be fooled again! Vote freedom over fear. Send the crybaby home!

I hope Kerry/Edwards can use this as a response.

15. Re-Thinking "Wolves" as Symbol
I posted this on another thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=1137677&mesg_id=1138771

*******

I've been looking up information about Wolves and Native American totems. The bush campaign might want to re-think their ad!

See link:
http://www.markings.bc.ca/mind/wolf/first_nations.html

>snip<
The Iroquois word which is translated in English as "clan" in fact means "Your presence on Earth carries responsibility".

The Clan system has existed within the Iroquois Confederacy for centuries. One of these clans is the Otha yu:ni or the Wolf Family Clan.

The deeper meaning of Otha yu:ni in the language speaks of making a path and leading of providing a way for there to be unity on the path for everyone in the house. This path is the journey Ukwehuwe or travel during a lifetime. Otha yu:ni, the wolf, has the responsibility of working to keep the family together and keeping unity among those who must live together. At the same time, the individual is given the opportunity to have their own vision and dreams. In the world of the Creator, Otha yu:ni provides an example of individualism being able to exist within the collective group.

*************

Fascinating Reading! I'd suggest that the Kerry clan gather advice from Native Americans on how best to respond. There's a lot of irony in bush choosing a wolf image!!!

17. Agreed. He's 'crying wolf' but misses the irony in that.
Junior thought 'My Pet Goat' was frightening. I doubt he ever read about the little boy crying wolf. Reagan used a bear, Dumbya. Think there might've been a reason for that?! (Besides the Russian bear connection.) Think Canada might be training attack wolves, right now? I'm thinkin'...No. Not likely. Moran. :eyes:
