Teresa Heinz-Kerry (great article from Washington Times!)
I know a lot of us don't like the Washington Times, but I think you'll love this story about THK. It made me smile. :)

http://www.washtimes.com/national/20041022-120846-3334r.htm

Federally funded Botox clinics. Diamond pickle pins. Fish stew for state dinners, followed by green tea and Portuguese pound cake. Pre-nups and private Gulfstream jets. Hermes bags, aromatherapy, homeopathic remedies and $4,000 Chanel suits. No more twin sets. No more twins. Blowsy hair, brassy mouth and bossy boots.

Is mainstream America ready for Teresa Heinz Kerry, a woman who radio host Don Imus wonders might be "too crazy to be first lady"?

"Well, they better be," said Betty Ford's former press secretary Sheila Weidenfeld. "I think she's going to be controversial, which is good. That's because she'll speak up."

1. Is America ready?

What kind of bullshit question is that? It's like asking if we're ready to have Black people vote.

3. I disagree
No it's not. She definitely stands out. It's a legitimate question for a news article.

6. Well, OK
I take it you think the question makes sense. So let me ask you: say America is "not ready". How will that manifest itself? Will America sink into the ocean? Will people commit mass suicide? What would it mean to "not be ready" for THK?

8. I'm not even analyzing, let alone "overanalyzing"
I'm just asking -- what does the question mean?

2. WTF is up with that quote:
"...the only thing to enjoy during what I suspect will be four dreary years of the human tree."

The human tree? And I highly doubt the four years will be dreary! What's this guy going on about?

that Kerry looks like the apple tree in the Wizard of Oz. He does, sort of. But I like trees! Solid, stable, and there for the long haul!

4. I read it after doing my standard "opposition research" at Sludge and I
think it looks like both JK and THK will be a lot of fun in the WH.

Thank for you understanding the jist of the article. I agree with you. I really like both JK and THK, as well as the chemistry/sparks that seem to go on between the two of them.

11. Party on in the White House!
I'll bet those state dinners would be excellent, I'm hungry now. I Like those friends of hers...Pie Friendly and French Wallop, wow! I thought it was a joke at first. Do you think she and JK are on the DU board? Sigh, guess not.

13. I am so ready for Teresa
I think she is delightful, provocative, and absolutely stunning. She will be a wonderful, controversial first lady. What a breath of fresh air!! A person in her own right. America will love her. What is really wonderful is that it is so obvious how much she and John care about each other. I can't wait. What a marvelous White House with John-John, Teresa and Elizabeth, and their great kids. Wow, what a change, and one that is sorely needed.

16. "Ready" or not, she's coming. Same for Elizabeth Edwards. . .
and their husbands.
