Do you think there are many "closet" * supporters???
Heard this idea of closet * supporters from someone on C-SPAN this morning. It was said they didn't want to really show their support for fear of ridicule. I wonder how many there would be.

2. Absolutely
Especially among the educated and informed classes. They know damn well to keep out of sight and stay hidden.

11. In speaking to an advertiser on Sinclair the other day. . . .
He did not reveal his voting preference. He said he would do the things that he usually does in this kind of situation. A few days later Sinclair stock was down 8 points.

3. LOTS
i see plenty of yard signs and bumper stickers for republican candidates, but almost never for bush. He'll still win by 20+ points here, but people aren't proud of voting for him

5. Well, one can only hope
Because if they aren't showing their support for the fear of ridicule, that means that a majority around them (who would ridicule them) support Kerry.

6. I rather doubt it.
Neo-cons have had the social upper-hand for years now. They control all three branches of federal govt, *plus* the news industry.

7. You should live here. Supporting Bush is proof that you are Christian.
Many people put those little "Christian fish" symbols in their advertising.

Looks like trading on the name of the Lord to me.

when we went to war and now its a permanent part of my logo. (non-political field)

8. Never thought of that but I'll bet there are a LOT of
closet Kerry supports who fear retribution at the hands of insane chimp supporters, especially in heavily rethug neighborhoods. I think the true extent of Kerry's support will not be revealed until the election results are in (if they are the TRUE results). Remember, the television LIES to you. Turn it off.

9. No.
Bush supporters are frenetically vocal. They need affirmation and support because they know something is not right.

Kerry supporters in some localities are scared to mention it.

17. Yes... I think people are going to be surprised at the "real" votes
counted, "if" they are counted. I hate to tell you this... and I only say it to add a little humor... but back in the day... in the 70's and 80's.... we used to call the Rochester Quadrajet, "the Quadrajunk".... for all the trouble one could have rebuilding one with the myriad parts and pieces.... you just gave me a fond memory with your name and I wanted to tell you so... tanx. :)

18. Quadrajunk
Heh, yeah I have one on my '76 Caprice, luckily I've never had the need to take it apart. I hear that if they're tuned properly, they're the one of the best stock carbs out there...but of course you have to know what you're doing, so I'm out of luck. LOL

Thanks for the reply.

21. Enrichment needles, orifices, floats, needle valve, teeny gaskets,
tiny balls, the vacuum thingy to kick in the extra barrels, tiny screws and other related hardware, minute gaskets, umpteen places for carbon and shellac to build up.... you are lucky so far... don't let it sit too long without running.. and use fuel treatment if you can......

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT REBUILDING ANOTHER ROCHESTER FOUR BARREL QUADRAJET CARBURETOR without installing the Barker Bushing Kit and using our system to unwarp the mid and top sections, and repair the factory defects, including all the soft plugs. We also can rebuild your Rochester Quadrajet carburetors, and repair all the defects. To assist, we have on line instructions for installing the bushing kit, where the technician can view the easy service procedure.

I support closets 100%
I love them. Pack 'em full of shoes and it brings a tear to my eyes....

Sorry for being a smartass. Yes, I think there are lots of closet supporters for both candidates. Out where I live, I have total strangers come up to me in parking lots after seeing my Kerry/Edwards and other various Dem stickers and say that they're so happy to see other Democrats around. I always offer them one for their car and they usually say stuff like Oh god no....we can't put one on our car - it would be keyed or something. But there are a lot of people who care about this election, but just don't show it.

12. There are many, many of them.
Bush* is near 50% in the polls--about where he was in 2000. But look at the difference in yard signs and bumper stickers. It's like night and day. I've never seen so few for an incumbent pResident.

People are ashamed to admit they'll vote for him--but they will.

13. Yes, absolutely!
Yes, absolutely. Imagine someone who doesn't feel STRONGLY for Kerry being confronted by an angry Republican! Who wants that kind of conflict in their lives?

Think of all the "anybody but * " people supporting Kerry this year. These are people who don't feel strongly about Kerry, but feel strongly against *. The "anybody but * " crowd won't be putting Kerry signs in their yards, but they'll be voting for him.

Most of the people who support * are ARDENT * supporters. They feel that * is the ONLY man for the job and they think that the rest of America feels the same way. You see it on FOX news, you see it on the country music videos, you hear it on talk radio. They feel that a Kerry win would bring this country to its knees. Therefore, they're the ones who get the * yard signs, put the stickers on their cars and confront the anybody but * people.

I have to admit, I was a little worried about what people would think about me getting a K/E sign in my yard, but I tossed those feeling aside yesterday as I picked one up from my local DFL office. Well, I figured if the 60 year old couple across the street can have a K/E sign, so can I. The DFL office had just received new shipment of signs yesterday and only had about 15 signs left. They were going fast and I see them popping up all over town!

16. I know a number of Republicans who
will vote for Bush not because they are right wing wackos. Most of the ones I know are quite Moderate and sensible people. But they will vote Republican because it is their Party. It is the Party that represents their ideals even though it is not doing that under Bush*. However, unlike 4 years ago most of them are not bragging or shooting their mouths off about how great he is. Its more of them voting for Bush because its their Party, not because they necessarily like him. As maddening as that is, it is what I see.

22. I think there are more closet Kerry supporters.
I have to be rather closeted at work, because it's a DOD office. I have a colleague who feels perfectly free to post any kind of gung-ho, pro-war articles or graphics on his partition. I, however, feel I have to keep any clippings strictly within my own office space. Repugs have been able to equate support for Bush with patriotism and support for the troops. My colleague is currently pouting because I told him I found one of his cartoons offensive. He ripped it down and thinks I have no sense of humor.
