FDU New Jersey Poll - Kerry Lead Widening - Kerry 49% Bush 41% w/leaners
New poll shows Kerry has lead over Bush in NJ
Associated Press

TRENTON, N.J. - John Kerry has opened a slim lead over President Bush among likely New Jersey voters who have made up their minds, and his margin widens slightly when people only leaning toward one candidate are taken into account, according to a poll released Friday.

Forty-six percent of likely voters surveyed by Fairleigh Dickinson University's PublicMind Poll said they supported Kerry while 40 percent said they backed Bush. A Fairleigh Dickinson poll released last week had the two men virtually tied among likely voters, with Kerry leading 44-42 percent.

In the survey released Friday, Kerry had a lead of 49 percent to 41 percent when those leaning toward one candidate or the other were included.

Nine percent of those polled were undecided and 1 percent said they would vote for Ralph Nader.

The telephone poll of 503 likely voters has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points. It was conducted Oct. 13-21.

2. Other polls show K lead even wider - Rutgers-Eagleton
FDU is pretty new to the polling game so I don't know if their numbers have any credibility, but it seems to go along with the Rutgers-Eagleton Poll K +10 RV, K +13 LV

NJ is not a battleground state and never was one.

4. When it is Bush ahead this would be termed a wide lead!
Only for Kerry is this a "slim" lead ! Maybe that is because they expect a landslide for Kerry????

7. Jersey was never in play
The RWers did that to try to scare democrats and lessen turnout.

It was like Rove's plan to waste money in CA in '00. Hey Bush, go waste some more time and money in NJ.

8. Didn't Bush visit New Jersey a few days ago?
That explains the widening lead for Kerry. I hope Bush spends more time in Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida.
