Kerry in a landslide in my Tennessee campus poll |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 02:13 PM by antigone382
61% Kerry, 39% Bush, 0% Nader...yippee!
:bounce:  :kick: :kick:  :bounce:
For a college campus, that may not seem like a big deal, but this is in the south, in the heart of Bible Belt country, a few miles from a big Air Force Base, so I'm thrilled!
I'd like to think that all of my putting up flyers--and putting up more flyers when they get torn down--talking to people, occasionally pissing people off, etc. has helped lead to the landslide in some small way...not to mention the efforts of my brother and all the other active dems on campus.

Now get up at 5:30 a.m. on election day, cajole, annoy, persuade and carry anyone in sight to the polls and don't quit until 7:01 p.m.

It's been a lot of fun campaigning. Of course, the repukes are just such easy targets. We put up posters with facts, quotes, etc., all damning Bush, and how do they respond?
a. They rip them down (the most popular method, seeing as they hate free speech and all)
b. They put up their own flyers alleging that Kerry and Edwards are the Ambiguously Gay Duo (yeah, well at least the AGD actually did something good for the world around them, by actually kicking the bad guy a$$.)
b. My favorite, they whip out their highlighters and write "Democrats suck!" all over OUR posters. (Just placating your inner five-year-old huh? Guess that's what your fearless leader woud do.)
I swear, freepers are so pathetic, it would be sad if it wasn't so damn funny.

That probably one a few votes -- seriously. "Hmm, do I wan't to be associated with childish behavior?"
I have TN in my "watch for upset" column. You never know, your efforts can make all the difference.

6. Oh I definitely see a chance of TN going blue. |
|
It's tough to fool these mountain people, and most of them see right through Bush's not-so-clever man-of-the-people disguise. It was 47% Gore, 50% Bush last time, and that ain't exactly a comfortable margin.

14. Yes, somewhere around there |
|
It was conducted by our student newspaper, and it really surprises me that Kerry was ahead by such a huge margin...I guess our draft posters had an effect.

8. Do you mind saying which college? |
|
I heard that Vanderbildt is actually sorta liberal.
Either way, this is great news. After all, as you said this is the bible belt.

9. I am guessing that they are referring to |
|
"Motlow state". It's near Tullahoma where Arnold AFB is located. Most of middle TN and West TN will go for Kerry. If we can get 40 percent of east TN to vote for Kerry - - he'll take it! I'm hearing good things from all across the state. TN is definitely going to be close.

15. It's a community college |
|
Motlow State Community College. I'm not sure how many students it has, probably around two or three thousand, maybe less.
