Rapper Eminem to vote for the first time
<snip>

“Bush is definitely not my homie,” the rap superstar said in an interview with Rolling Stone, parts of which were posted Thursday on the magazine’s Web site. “But I’m still undecided. Kerry has been known to say some things that’s caught my attention, made a few statements I’ve liked, but I don’t know. Whatever my decision, I would like to see Bush out of office.”

<snip>

“Let the president answer on higher anarchy/Strap him with an AK-47, let him go fight his own war/Let him impress daddy that way ... No more blood for oil,” Eminem says in the single “Mosh.”

“He’s been painted to be this hero and he’s got our troops over there dying for no reason,” Eminem said in the interview. “He’s in a tailspin, running around like a dog chasing his tail. And we got young people over there dyin’, kids in their teens, early ’20s that should have futures ahead of them. And for what? It seems like Vietnam 2.”

You might not agree with his music, but he has some valid points.

12. I like them both
Toby Keith isnt the person you think he is. I have no idea why he is on the bandwagon supporting the Iraq war but i do know he is a registered democrat.

27. He donated to Bush
It was last year, but I haven't seen any real evidence to counteract his donation.

BTW, hope Eminem doesn't go the Nader way!

14. Ugh. I can't stand Eminem or Toby Keith.
i wonder if eminem was trying to make a political statement on his own or was he just doing a normal interview and he was asked about politics.

i would think that if he wanted to actually use his celebrity to help kick AWOL out of the white house, he'd be out doing something about it instead of sitting on his hands (and all of his money) just complaining.

i say, stand up or shut up. ;)

11. doesn't it depend on the state if he can vote?
I think it varies state to state if you can vote if you've been convicted of a felony. Where was his conviction?

15. He can and he is voting in Michigan. Link...
http://www.mlive.com/news/kzgazette/index.ssf?/base/news-0/1096385006268860.xml

snip-
Once a jail or prison sentence has been completed, convicted felons can register and vote in Michigan even if they are still on probation or parole, Silfven said.

"Your voting privileges are suspended during your period of incarceration," Silfven said. "You serve your time and your privileges are restored."
-snip

If you read the entire article, sometimes even incarcerated people are allowed to vote, depending on the phase their trial is in.

FWIW, Eminem says his primary residence is in Michigan.

I for one love his music, but I'm probably in the minority here.

18. While I don't agree with his music, I do agree with the way he is raising
his daughter. She can't listen to his music unless he cleans it up. His neighbors say he is a great dad and just like any other homeowner. My husband has a cousin who just started recording with him and he says he is a real nice guy. My views on him, and I'm a mom, have changed over the past few years. I think Eminem is growing up. :hi:

19. Me too
Some of his lyrics are quite telling. Maybe he doesn't want to say he will vote for Kerry because.....

Think how that will look! "EMINEM - vulgar rapper, corrupter of youth endorses Kerry!! I can see the spin now.

21. Why doesn't he just say he's voting for Kerry?
I mean, if he's not voting for Bush how can he say he's undecided? What's he going to do... vote for Nader? That's not an option, that's a vote for Bush.

Ugh.

It's 11 fucking days away. If you're undecided, you have an empty hole where your brain should be.

:argh:
