of lawn between a couple streets, where the state ran a diagonal street to bridge between two parallel streets. It is maintained by the borough, and has a wood 'Welcome to Somerset' sign on it, and borough employees maintain and landscape it. There are four reThug signs on it, so I went to the borough managers office and asked him about them.
I asked, "Are you uncomfortable with the perception that he, the borough and its officials were endorsing one party?" He was all right about it, but sort of passed the buck, saying that he thought it is PennDot land, and that there are laws about removing signs, and ... I asked him to call the reThug HQ, and ask that they be removed, and he indicated he would talk with the borough solicitor. I thanked him, and went about my other business there, which was dealing with the building code guy, whose computer holds the most land information. His office is a few doors away.
Not long after I got back to his office, the phone rang, and he was asked about a piece of property and confirmed that it was probably PennDots. When he finished with the call, I asked if it was that particular property, -- it was. I left there being optimistic that something might be done.
I still am, but the signs are still there- now the end of the second day. Oh well.
