6. Agreed; Gallup had us down 52-39 on 10/27/2000
And we won the election. After Kerry wins, Time, Gallup et al will have lots of 'splainin' to do.

or Kerry closing the gap and tied, next week it will be tied again--to give us fuel going into election day.

Bush up 5 among likely, so I assumed Kerry was 46% among likely.

The TIME poll's purpose is to raise their average for their POLL OF POLLS. Remember, TIME owns CNN. They created a poll to support this new Poll Of Polls bullshit. Just to show Bush doing better "on average."

10. CNN/Time poll: Bush holds edge
October 27, 2000
Web posted at: 8:36 p.m. EDT (0036 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republican presidential nominee George W. Bush holds a 49-to-43 percent edge over Democratic rival Al Gore in the latest CNN/Time poll, conducted Wednesday and Thursday.

The poll of 2,060 adult Americans, including 1,076 likely voters, has a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points and is thus in essential agreement with a CNN/USA Today/Gallup tracking poll also released Friday. That poll gives Bush a 52 percent-39 percent edge over Gore. More important, both polls show the same snapshot of the current state of the presidential campaign: a solid advantage for Bush.

ABC News and The Washington Post both have daily tracking polls today putting the race at 48 percent for Bush and 45 percent for Gore. The latest Reuters/MSNBC/Zogby tracking poll has the contest at 45 percent for Gore and 43 percent for Bush.

October 25-26

Likely voters' choice for president

Bush 49%

Gore 43

Nader 3

Buchanan 1

Sampling error: +/-3% pts

Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 04:00 PM by Gloria
lumping the same MOE as the same for the total sample and the LV portion. It's bullshit, they do this all the time....What is the MOE on the likely voter portion?? What does that MOE apply to? Time's methodology is totally half-assed just on this one thing alone!!!

22. I'm with you Sara!
I completely agree with you!! The continuous (daily) poll posting is pretty maddening  But then.. if it's on the news, it will be on here.

I do like seeing the data they publish from either "all polls combined" much more than these insane polls from every pollster under the sun.

But TIME?? Pahleeeeese.. That's just about equivalent to extreme right-winger Scott Rasmussen's polls!!!! :puke:

And what's so funny is.. if you don't like the poll numbers you see on CNN, you simply need to hit the channel changer... LOL!

Polls, polls, everywhere a poll.. :silly:

33. reflective of recent CNN/Gallup polls.
IIRC other polls have Bush below fifty and Kerry within MOE. The New Yorker had a piece recently on how John Zogby correctly called the last election when Gallup had Bush winning handily, so I'll go with Zogby, who most recently put Bush and Kerry even at 45 (I think).

36. Well, that still sounds good to me.
That's certainly within the margin of error, and if Bush is only going to get 47% in this election, Kerry is going to win.
