People are voting for Bush for one simple reason... |
|
and it is a false reason. But we need to let people know the truth about Bush. The only reason they are voting for him is that they believe him to be a "strong" leader and best able to protect our country and keep us "safe". That's it. Period.
And it is the challenge of the Democrats to let people know this is a false portrayal of Bush. He is not a "strong" leader. He is weak. He was asleep at the wheel and ignored intelligence that might have prevented 9/11. It is only by the grace of God that we have not been attacked again. It is in spite of George W Bush. We are not "safe" as long as he is in office. He failed the American people on 9/11 and we would be foolish to think he has changed into a vigilant and intelligent and strong leader. He is a reactionary. He attacks after the fact.
That is the message that we must get out to the people before the election. That is only issue where he gets his support. He has no credibility on the economy or jobs or deficits or healthcare or any other issue. He is running as a"strong" leader that will keep us "safe" and people are buying the lie.

I was talking to a guy in the air force last night and he said he has gotten a raise every 4 years * was in office. Did Clinton not hand out raises?

and then i went on about job outsourcing and the price of a barrel of oil and on and on and on....
Where is he gonna work when he gets out of the air force? You cant go work for Boeing, they laid off everyone that had less than 15 years of working there. He is a peace loving kid from California. I had no idea he would vote Bush.

|
but the repub congress wouldn't pass them. Lots of service people don't realize Congress' role in their pay and benefits. Good luck with him, at least you're still trying! It is sad though.

6. Why did 9/11 happen on Bush's Watch? Why? If Clinton was so weak |
|
in his last term, because of "MonicaGate" why didn't the terrorists strike then? Some of them were already here before the election.
Why did they strike when Bush was "installed." No one seems to want to use that against Bush...but if it was Clinton's watch....he would have been blamed daily on the cable Pundit Shows.
Was it a "payback" for Poppy? Does it mean that the longer Bush is in power, the more terrorists will target us?
No one asks.

That no one mentions, except here on DU. I sent a message to my local (deep South) paper's Rant and Rave section pointing out that a person can be Godly and decisive but not be competent. They haven't published it yet and may not.

I think that the only people who will vote for Bush are the people who live in caves and haven't left home in ten years.
Even many hard core repugs have told me that they can't vote for him, because of how badly he has done everything, he has tried.

10. Needed a war to survive |
|
That is what there plan was all along. Can you imagine Bush running on his economic record? They didn`t count on 9/11 happening but theyy were planning Iraq just so Bush could survive. So I guess if we are attacked again, then Bush has to resign since he says that he is the one to keep us safe. Wouldn`t you think?

I believe that most Bush voters are voting for him because of the polarization in our country. They belong to Bush's team. They like belonging to a group and Bush's failures don't matter. They don't see his faults and even if they did they would still vote for him because he's their guy. No thinking or deciding is necessary. Therefore they cannot be convinced to vote otherwise. Koolaid drinkers.
Members of the republican country club like being in the club, and like disparaging those who aren't in the club. It is part of their identity. It is who they are.
They aren't voting for the best candidate....they are voting for their guy. Bush will always get a certain percentage of the vote no matter what he does.
Now there might be some independents or undecideds out there who currently believe the "strong leader" character. These voters are lazy and can probably be reached with logic, but I'm not sure how many there really are. I don't think the RNC is even trying to get them though because the RNC is focused on trying to get as many Koolaid drinkers out to vote as possible...and there are a lot. That's why the lies and distortions work...it fires up the already-convinced enough to drive to a polling place.
I think it's about turnout, not about changing minds.

if he had horns coming out of his head...But the number of people that makes him a competitive candidate are voting for one reason primarily. Bush will always have his "base"..

20. Its the Known versus the Unknown |
|
"I don't like bush*s leadership but at least I know what I've got and what to expect. Putting someone in who is unknown might make things worse. I don't understand where Kerry stands."
The message to these people should be that bush* is making America weaker and more vulnerable. Our military is overstretched and he has bankrupted our children's future. Things are steadily getting worse in Iraq and there's nothing he can do to stop it because he has alienated all our allies.
John Kerry's long experience in the military and in the Senate makes him one of the most qualified men ever to run for president. His "sophisticated" airs that put off a lot of Americans are exactly what is needed to rally international support to fight terrorism and help us find a solution to the mess he will inherit in Iraq. Today oil prices hit a new all-time high and the Dow sunk to its lowest level this year.
We can't afford another four years of failures with george bush*.
