October 15 I filled out the ballot.
October 16 I put the ballot into the slot at the Clay Street PO.
And I know that it has been received because the Dems have quit calling me.

Swag, you can call 1-866-ORE-VOTES to verify your ballot has been received and counted. I hear there is also a website but I have not found it.
As of tonight 21% of all ballots in Multnomah County have been received.

25. Make sure that straight party includes Kerry. |
|
When I received my absentee ballot, there was a line of text that I night not have seen if I weren't reading so carefully which explained that a straight-party vote didn't include a vote for President.
Even if you do mark straight-party and that does include the Presidential race, you can probably still mark your choice for President, and it will be simply superfluous rather than counting for two votes or getting thrown out.
But since that's the most important thing on the ballot, JUST MAKE CERTAIN BEFOREHAND.

36. We need the popular vote, so we need every vote -- |

Since Bush will get a load of votes in the red states, I don't consider my Kerry vote in my bluer-than-blue state wasted. It's contributing to the total --

I have already voted absentee. I don't have a polling place. Since our community is so rural and sparse we have to vote by mail. I voted last week for Kerry.

I don't get early voting...why can't I vote early? If you vote early can you vote twice? Does early voting have exit polls?
Apparently I'll be stuck in lines on 11/2. California - ahead of the curve not.

On our first day of early voting, last Monday, people waited up to 2 1/2 hours to vote. Some of that was problems with the computerized voting, but turnout was unbelievable.

proudly voted Kerry for Pres., as well as Claire McCaskill for governor and Nancy Farmer for Senate (Missouri).
If elected, McCaskill would be the 1st female governor of our state, and Farmer would be the first female senator from our state elected under her own power (we had Jean Carnahan for 2 years when Mel Carnahan died and still won against Ashcroft).

but I didn't just tick off the straight Dem bubble. I went to each candidates website and looked over the issues and decided the Democrat was the best choice everytime.
