STATE FARM RESPONDS ABOUT SINCLAIR!!!!!
Subject:RE: What Sinclair is doing is wrong
Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2004 13:43:09 -0500
From: "STATE FARM INSURANCE" <info@statefarm.com>
To:

Thank you for contacting State Farm regarding our television
advertising and/or affiliation with Sinclair Broadcasting Company.

It's important that you know State Farm Insurance Companies is
non-partisan and does not contribute to or endorse any political party.

Moreover, State Farm does not buy its national advertising from
Sinclair affiliates. Our national advertising is negotiated and paid for with
the major television networks. (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, UPN, and WB).
Sinclair receives none of this money.

As a company, we take great care to be sensitive to programming that
some people may find offensive. We monitor programming content
rigorously. Reflecting these practices, State Farm does not, nor do we plan to,
place any national advertising on programs which are partisan.

We value customer opinions and treat these matters with the utmost
importance. Once again, thank you for contacting State Farm to share your
opinion.

1. That sure is a better reply than I received from GM!
As a matter of fact, GM supplies a lot of the fleet cars for State Farm! Maybe we should write to State Farm about that!

Thanks for posting this!

2. Glad To Hear...
about this because I have my car and renters insurance through them and I've been happy so far and don't want to change.

That would have been a pain.

:D

3. They don't get it...
All the major companies' statements are about how they don't plan to advertise during the show.

1) The show wasn't gonna have ads anyway..
2) Advertising on sinclair before or after the show is just as bad!

7. Bottom line: their money doesn't go to Sinclair
That's different from companies who say they won't sponsor the show but will continue to purchase ads from Sinclair. State Farm only purchases ads at the network level, according to that response.

Direstrike..

That's not neccessarily true. If the corporation is at least making a "public comment" that it is WRONG, that's a pretty incredible statement!

I haven't been to a burger joint in a long, long time... but after Al Franken said that Burger King was so admanant that this was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG... I had to swing by there on the way home from hockey practice last night for a Whopper ;)

Whopper, Jr. anyhow. :)

They'll get more of my fast-food biz than Mickey D's from now on.

6. Don't forget - this is the company that has been successfully
sued (class actions) for discrimination in pay and promotion by women. I think they have suffered both the largest and second largest judgments against them. They have also had race issues brought against them. But heck, that is all in the past.
