Judith Steinberg Dean is a selfish shrew
I mean there couldn't be another reason for her to actually prefer to do the career for which she trained for a dozen years. She couldn't possibly find saving lives and helping the sick rewarding. She couldn't possibly think that any commitment she made to these people was important. The shrew. I heard she actually insisted upon wearing shoes when she was pregnant.

1. Does she not think that Dean, if elected, will do even more good than
she does in her private practice of medicine?

Like I said in the other thread, I'm trying to read this issue and it's very confusing.

I know Judy is entitled to her career and her privacy, but she could support Howard without jeopardizing her career (she does take a day off every now and again, doesn't she?) and she doesn't jeopardize her privacy by going to a repatriation ceremony or birthday party with her husband.

4. I would bet if Carol Moseley Braun's husband
chose work over campaigning no one would say boo. But since Dr. Dean is a woman she couldn't possibly find here career important or the rest she gets on her days off (on which she is likely on call) important.

10. If CMB were in the lead, people might start wondering where her husband's
endorsement was if, say, he were invisible.

8. it seems
pretty evident to me that you've made up your mind, AP.

You keep saying you know she's entitled to her career - well, it seems to me that if you're so clear on that, you'd be yelling your support for her, rather than trying to do the opposite.

11. Do you think that a person can't both have a career and be supportive
of the other spouse. If you think those two things are incompatible, OK. That's a sad commentary on America and we should fix that.

13. I think they can have that and not need to let you know about it

14. Fair enough.
But if someone I loved wanted to be President, and I thought they would be a great president, I think I'd put aside a few of my issues and let people know.

Do you think the Bush twins would support their father? Yet every other candidates' kids are doing what I can't imagine the Bush twins doing. And I think that would say something important about the candidates.

I doubt you'll find any disagreement here at DU.

3. That is my thoughts too
Would defeating Bush save more lives? I don't know the answer but it's an honest question

5. I think that badmouthing candidates' families is just a sign...
of the moral decay that has so ruthlessly gripped America. Although I an understand and sympathize with how much some people would prefer that Mrs. Dean embrace the traditional values that have made America a great and free land, her lifestyle is her choice and we should not be so low as to attack her for it.

15. How diplomatic of you!
How cleverly you couch your distain. Your sneering insinuation is quite undisguised.

Although the Deans married when they both aspired to be nothing more than country doctors, the fact that her career did not change course to coincide with his can only mean, of course, that she has rejected the "traditional values that made America a great and free land," (i.e., subservience to the male and the role cast for her by others.)

Seeing patients who have come to rely on her and attending to her children, PTA meetings, and daily life for her family obviously are not activities adequate to meet your lofty criteria for "traditional values."

Why that selfish shrew! That brazen harbinger of the moral decay that has ruthlessly gripped America!

:eyes:

You need to climb into your time machine and head back to 1950. Dr. Judith Steinberg Dean has my undying admiration, as does her obviously enlightened husband.

6. I commend Judith Steinberg Dean for her
stance. She has a right to her career and her goals. I hope if Dean becomes President that she continues to pursue her career. I honor her choice and her courage.

7. And she barbecues and eats kittens, too.
Sure a lot of people who believe that a woman's place is in the kitchen, or on the campaign trail. Sickens me to se this at DU.

Disclosure: I am definetly NOT a Dean supporter.
