1. I used to support Dean. . .
. . . but I've thought long and hard about what four more years of Bush would mean for our country. I took another look at Joe's platform, my own priorities, and compared them to Bush. I decided Joe is the only electable candidate and I encourage Democrats to rally around him to topple the Bush administration in 2004.

A lot of other former Dean supporters are behind me on this.

You're for the unjustified Iraqi war? Dang if you want another reublican in the white house why don't you just vote for George Bush. If Joe Lieberman is nominated I'm either not voting or voting Dean. And I'm in a contentious state, Washington state.

So far, only Joe Lieberman has demonstrated he has the platform, experience and know-how to do that.

22. Why should I believe in the veracity and honesty...
...of your "conversion story" anymoreso than any of the other goofy ass conversion stories we've seen on this boards? You can drive your post count up all you want, but I have a hard time believing that you ever got the bumper sticker. You have to put a persons comments and statements in context of all of their statements, and their history, to create a clear picture. Granted, Lieberman has been a centrist Democrat, consistently, for longer than I've been voting (longer than I've been a Democrat, certainly), but that doesn't mean he's the man for the job.

2. Disruptors Disrupting.

I believe there are some very long term trolls here that are all working together trying to disrupt the forum.

They are very careful not to get banned, and they probably even donated five bucks to make it look good. I have seen posts on Freak Republic bragging that they are disrupting DU and their posts number in the thousands. I know the mods are on top of it.

I'm not saying that there aren't legitimate Lieberman supporters, but all of them at once indicates that they are just disruptors.

What a pathetic life these people lead.

3. it's a cabal of people
who are mocking a sincere thread earlier today in which somebody said they'd switched their allegiance to another candidate.

A number of their threads were locked, but they're still continuing the charade.

It stems from a total lack of respect for this site, its admins and mods, and its members.

They believe that barring unanimous support of their chosen candidate, they have the right to disrupt this forum to their hearts' content.

It's childish, petulant and extremely counter-productive. In ATA, Skinner has already stated that new rules will soon be proposed that will put an end to this kind of nonsense, so I hope they enjoy it while they can.

54. I don't know if I could do that. I see their points, I mean, but
I just don't know if I could do that.

It is true that a lot of us voted for Gore/Lieberman and got our votes ripped off, but I am so terribly disappointed with people whose WORDS I TOOK FOR TRUTH have completely fooled me and ridiculed me by their recent actions (I'm NOT naming names, note that) but I am so completely disgusted that I could have been so misled by some people (and again I am NOT naming names) with whom I conversed on the board and via PM for so long.

Just think about that. Just think about what it means to have that kind of friendship and comraderie with people and then they stab you in the back! What kind of charade was their "support" for Dean, anyway? What kind of low-rent, turd-like charade was that?!

But it won't win the election for your candidate.

Many of us have carefully reconsidered our votes and are casting them appropriately. Someone who is supporting a candidate new to the Party should not attack someone with decades of prominence in our party and his supporters, regardless of who they have supported in the past.

51. I find this very mystifying!
For weeks supporters of candidates other than Dean, including you, have posted lots of information about Howard Dean. It is thanks to this tireless effort on their and your part that many Dean supporters have seen the ugly truth about Dean's candidacy and become better informed about politics in general. The racism, the angry incivility, the moral weakness, the constant making of gaffes, all of these have been brought to light. Do you expect us to keep on supporting this failed candidacy even after the folly of our ways has been made so clear? Nay, that cannot be the case! For many of us the love we once felt for Dean has been revealed as a foul abomination. We cannot continue with our old destructive ways, instead we must look towards the future. The Dean/Clark war is over! We have capitulated. Now I must ask you to be more gracious in victory than to accuse us of mockery.

How is it possible to know for sure if someone is sincere about changing their candidate? I've seen a lot of "changed my mind" posts on this forum, and I doubt that half of them are real.

On the Dean blog, we get Clark supporters and general disruptors (pun intended) telling us every day that they've "seen the light" and switched to Clark. Yeah right.

I am not a Lieberman supporter, I'm a Dean supporter, and I think it's ridiculous to assume that because someone has switched to Joe or any other candidate, they must be "skirting the rules".

I'm not doing anything, not sure why you are attacking me. I'm just pointing out that some or all of these new Lieberman supporters may be actual Lieberman supporters, and to silence them would be very wrong.

46. Contempt
1. The feeling or attitude of regarding someone or something as inferior, base, or worthless; scorn.
2. The state of being despised or dishonored; disgrace.
3. Open disrespect or willful disobedience of the authority of a court of law or legislative body.

Hmmmm... how are is this board being considered inferior or scorned, despised or dishonored? How is supporting Joe disrespectful?

I am thrown by the locked threads. If I were to post a thread of Clark GLBT stance, would it get locked?

That's okay. I'm a Dean guy, all the way, unless he falters and then I will have to support someone.

42. Is it silly to consider Lieberman for President?
He's not my guy, but I have been persuaded to investigate Joe more thoroughly. As I say, Dean first, but if Dean falls in Iowa and New Hampshire, I may have to make the pragmatic choice and that choice is someone who has faced Bush once before in electoral combat. Joe is that man.

I did a month long analysis of who I considered eligible candidates (eligibility defined by a specific criteria) Clark wasn't eligible but because of his extensive support I had to consider him and though Joe was eligible, I nixed him because of his lack of support. I didn't give Joe a fair chance. Now, five days before the first caucus, I owe it to myself and Lieberman to take a closer look.

Joe before Clark, that's for certain. If Dean falters, Joe may take up the torch.

60. It's kind of a refreshing change...
...from the usual political distortions and flames perpetuated.

61. I want to thank all of the Dean supporters
Edited on Wed Jan-14-04 01:07 AM by crunchyfrog
for your openness and honesty in showing your true ideological bents. I have to confess that of all the Dems running for the nomination, Lieberman was the only one who i would not have voted for. I have always trusted the honesty and sincerity of the Dean supporters, even when I've disagreed with them on choice of candidate. So I thank you for demonstrating for me just how close Dean truly is to Lieberman, and how much true affinity so many Dean supporters have for Lieberman's vision for America.

I had been planning on wholeheartedly supporting Dean if he got the nomination, but you all have forced me to reconsider. I will not and can not support or vote for someone so ideologically close to Lieberman, nor can I align myself with people whose vision for this country is so close to Lieberman's vision.

I once again applaud you for your honesty, you have just helped me to make a really tough descision. Thank you.

62. I was wondering that myself.
Up until tonight, I've rarely seen anything positive said about the man.

69. I still cannot believe this. After all of the work, the campaigning,
the MeetUps, the signs, the phone calls, the tabling, the leafleting; after EVERY SINGLE DAMN THING, I cannot believe you guys would do this.

73. I give it until 10 A.M.
Then there will be the big revelation. The Absolute Proof of how easy it really was for backers of another candidate (Hint: Last name does not begin with the letter "D" but with a letter that is very close to "D") to flood DU with coordinated messages and threads, creating a false impression of that candidate's degree of support and momentum.

The thing is though, the only group of DU'ers I've seen who are both willing and able to actually act in this type of coordinated, even orchestrated manner, actually are backing a DIFFERENT candidate (Hint: Last name does not begin with the letter "C" but with a letter that is very close to "C"). That's my revelation, and I give it until about 10 A.M. for the Absolute Proof of that to be revealed lol.

75. Send in those soulful and doleful...

...schmotes by the Joe-ful... clowns! Hey - both Joe & Krusty are Jews! Another + for Joe!

Seriously, you guys are cracking me up tonight!
To those protesting the "protesters," just put the threads & posters on ignore. Why get bent out of shape about it?

This has become inflammatory, and is a continuation of several other threads.
