The Gimme a break Dept.: Sen. McConnell says press out to get Bunning
A day after Sen. Jim Bunning said he didn't know Army reservists had refused a convoy mission in Iraq, Kentucky's senior senator said yesterday that Bunning hasn't had time to keep up with the news.

"He's been out campaigning, not sitting home and watching TV and reading the newspaper every day," Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said in a telephone interview yesterday.

"I think for Sen. Bunning to be lambasted for not paying close attention to an issue over which members of the Senate do not have any responsibility in any event is just further piling on by the press in an effort to try to defeat Sen. Bunning," McConnell said in an interview yesterday.

bush's own personal McCain-Feingold hatchet man says the press is doing a number on Bunning. If you ask me they are both crazy.

1. Oh, blow it out your ass, Mitch. Bunning is getting mental.
Living proof that age does not necessarily make a sage.

5. And McConnell is the juvenile Senator from Kentucky.
They both strike me as demented hate mongers. In other words, main stream republicans in the new republican party.

4. Hey McConnell....send Bunning out
to face a press conference live and in person. It's an easy way to dispel the rumors; no defending necessary if he were to hold just one live press conference.

Put the rumors to bed, Mitch.....hold a live press conference wtih the man.

9. Ding, ding, ding! Winnah!
That pesky media could be silenced in a big hurry with one press availability. And how do you NOT know about a mutiny in the ranks of the military? "Doesn't have time to read the news" isn't a good enough excuse for being ignorant of such a significant development in Iraq!

Why doesn't Bunning care enough about the troops to stay informed of their situation? Is he going to spit on them when the come back from Iraq? Because some people are saying that he will, you know, and that just shows you what an elitist extremist he is.

Disclaimer: I have been willing to give Mr. Bunning a break for a while. Mental illness is not a fit subject for ridicule and laughter. But in my opinion, Bunning has gone long beyond the bounds of propriety and taste in denying that there's anything wrong with him, and his colleagues, surrogates and toadies have been vicious in their defense of someone who needs help, not more Republican political nostrums. If Bunning is going to get that help, it appears that he's going to need to be turned out of office, and as such, the gloves are coming off for me in commenting on his situation. So much so that I will stoop to the tactics of Faux News.

Give it up, Mr. Bunning. Give it up, Republicans.

7. Classic example of the brilliance
of Repug's claiming that media is biased. They have been doing this for well over a decade, and by repeating their mantra ad nauseum, have actually convinced a majority of American's that it is so. I believe it is this ploy, more than any other reason, that explains how they have been able to piss all over the VAST majority of Americans with their policies, and still maintain parity at the polls. Whenever the media reports on Repug malfeasance, they make a concerted effort to blame the messenger- and amazingly enough, many people buy it.
One of the main challenges facing Democrats today is dismantling this ludicrous fallacy.

8. Bunning never reads newspapers and only watches Fox news!
I saw a report on tv yesterday about this race. Bunning even accused his senate challenger (an Italian American) of "looking like a son of Saddam Hussen". I kid you not!

This Bunning guy is priceless. And, the report continued by saying he'll probably win re-election.
