Write, FAX or E-mail Cleveland Plain-Dealer about shrub endorsement.
In case you didn't hear. The editorial board voted 5 - 2 to endorse John Kerry. The publisher overruled the editorial board and the CPD officially endorsed the pResident.

...It is critical for us to start a MAJOR letter writing campaign to the Plain Dealer and to spread the word about the publisher overruling the editorial board's vote. If this is going on here, you can imagine it's being duplicated all over the country.

Letters can be mailed to the Editor, The Plain Dealer, 1801 Superior Ave, Cleveland 44114. Email can be sent to letters@plaind.com. Faxes can be sent to 216-999-6209.

For those of you who don't live in the Cleveland area, know that in this critical swing state, the area covered by the PD is the most critical area for us to get out the Kerry vote to swing the state.

1. looks like all those Kerry endorsements were hurting
Now they've decided to wield their club.

What an outrage. What a slap in the face to journalism, such as it is in the United States at this time.

3. Done
The PD really let me down on this one. This was the decision of Alex Machaskee, the publisher, FYI. There is some info on another thread in this forum.

4. Unbelievable.
THEY THEMSELVES published the stat of 2000-2004 - THIRTY-SEVEN percent of the jobs lost in America during that time period were lost in Ohio. ELEVEN percent of them in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland Metro Area) alone. That ALONE should make them see that it's seriously time for a change and that Four-Corporate-Tax-Break Lancelot Link is NOT getting the job done and giving the CEOs incentive to ship MORE jobs offshore while pocketing the difference.

This paper is horseshit. They're trying to win over the suburbanite Nascar Dad/Security mom dickheads that Juggernaut Jane wants so badly to occupy downtown. What an era for Cleveland - worst pResident, worst governor, worst mayor, worst radio stations and now our paper goes biznatch to the Escalade crowd.

5. Private media ownership is really proving why it is dangerous to
democracy.

Pretty soon these folks are going to learn that their wealth does not entitle them to control public opinion.

Private media is going to cause their own special Bastille Day in the not to distant future.

6. Editorial put off...
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000683265

Read the last line of the article...

"This has caused consternation in some quarters at the Plain Dealer, with sources telling E&P that the endorsement editorial, which was expected to run Sunday, was put off."
