2. I think they have an error there...

The Los Angeles Daily News endorsement of Kerry is a surprise for this moderate to conservative paper. It has added impact, as the Los Angeles Times once again is not endorsing a candidate. However, California is a safe state for Bush

7. Just disappointed
They used to be the voice of reason in the state. Hell they've endorsed Salazar for Senate and the dems in 5 of the 7 CDs (not to mention Gore in 2000.)

Due to that, I'm afraid that this is one of those rare endorsements that people actually look twice at.

6. You see the bit about the Cleveland Plain Dealer at the end?????
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 08:24 PM by flowomo
that sucks.

"Meanwhile, E&P has learned from several sources at the Cleveland Plain Dealer that the paper's nine-person editorial board decided earlier this week that it wanted to endorse Kerry ek but Publisher Alex Machaskee, who has final say, has decided on Bush. The paper backed Bush in 2000.

This has caused consternation in some quarters at the Plain Dealer, with sources telling E&P that the endorsement editorial, which was expected to run Sunday, was put off."

23. You beat me to it. I was going to bring this one up too.
My understanding was that with the conflict of interest on their editorial board..the paper may not endorse anyone. Which is better than endorsing Bush against the majorities will.

We shall see.

GO JOHN/JOHN!! :kick:

9. Media Ownership
This brings back the media ownership rules... When the two papers (DP and Rocky Mountain "News") merged a few years back, who knew THIS would be the result (despite the article's statement to the contrary).

I can see it now "Firm steady leadership in these new troubling times. " :puke:

21. Sounds like they didn't go willingly.
"Bush also picked up the Denver Post, a switch from Gore in 2000. William Dean Singleton, now the publisher of that paper, is known as a strong Bush supporter. His MediaNews Group also owns the L.A. Daily News, which he allowed to go for Kerry. "

He "allowed" a newspaper to endorse Kerry. Well, how very nice of him. :grr:
