A Report on Michael Moore's Tour: Green Bay
I attended the 7 pm show. Freepers were lined up outside, harassing people as they came to the show.

Apparently, one of their tactics is to buy tickets, attend the event, and disrupt the show. Some of them purchased tickets, then burned them when the TV cameras were on them.

They yelled, and cheered at pro-bush porpaganda. Then, when MM started talking about the Iraq war, it was their signal to stand up and walk out. Totally unflapped, MM led us in singing "na-na-na-na, hey, hey, hey, goodbye!"

TWO sold out shows of 2,000 people. The one I attended was filled with eager, screaming, cheering, enthusiastic people. I am pooped from expending so much energy - but it was fantastic.

MOST IMPORTANTLY was his call to "Get out the Vote." He said, "you know, this is what I'm doing, visiting 19 more cities and talking to people just like you. But don't let it stop here. Get out, talk to people, get involved in grass-roots campaigning. This is THE MOST important election of our lifetime, and it's success is up to YOU. We CANNOT afford to keep going down this road. Our nation, and the world, cannot survive four more years. Get out there and WORK!"

The Rev.

3. I think it was great that they were stupid enough to buy

tickets and then leave. Shows two things to me: MM gets richer as a result of their buying tickets. And these freepers are part of the rich citizenry who have money to burn and don't give a damn about those less fortunate.

Why didn't they donate that money for those "faith-based organizations" that * is always alluding to.

2. Awesome! I went to see at San Marcos!
A couple of people spoke up as being pro-Bush. They were ignored. If they walked out, no one noticed. Course, there were 11,000 people.

Congrats on singing 'Goodbye' to 'em! Unbelievable! They must have come up with that technique (of walking out recently), huh?

7. Actually, it was pretty funny.
It was obvious from the beginning that they were planning something. One guy put on a shirt right before the show that said "Michael Moore is FAT!" My friend pointed it out to me, and I said, "yeah, those repugs have to read something before they believe it."

I didn't know about the ticket burning until I got home and saw the news. Those were the old guys - saying "this is what I think of Michael Moore."

By the way, before we went in, we were stopped by the reporter from the GB Press-Gazette, who wanted to know why we came. Geez - I might be quoted in tomorrow's paper! :)

5. I wish I could've gone
I didn't even know he was coming to town! Republicans are sickening, they probably didn't even watch F9/11, none of them ever do, they seem to think they know what it's about though :eyes:
Hey, hey, hey, goodbye -good one!

11. I get the feeling F 911 is still causing problems of
major concern. The commercial for Faren HYPE 911 used to be a very non descript 30 seconds. But now I'm seeing it in a long one minute, almost info-mercial commercial. Their weak attempt of totally trying to discredit it.

And they're trying to sell "rush" orders of the DVD for $14.95.

Keep up the pressure Mike. You're one hell of my kind of fat man.

15. Report from the Green Bay Press-Gazette
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 09:40 PM by RevCheesehead
http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/news/archive/local_18347987.shtml

Political theater was in full flower Saturday night at the Weidner Center, inside and out.

Inside, Michael Moore — filmmaker, liberal activist and George W. Bush opponent — held forth on Republicans, Bush, the war in Iraq and the importance of young people turning out to vote.

“(Republicans) control the White House. They control the Senate and the House of Representatives. They have the Supreme Court and the majority of governorships, yet they don’t represent the majority thinking in the United States,” Moore said, standing in front of a photo of the White House with a moving van in front of it.

His presentation, a cross between George Carlin-esque vocal impersonations and soap-box preaching, brought the sell-out crowd to its feet several times. In what appeared to be a predetermined protest to Moore’s presence, a portion of the audience got to its feet and kept going, walking out about 20 minutes into the program.

>snip<

Once the presentation began, it took about five minutes for the first heckler to shout his piece. To that and other attempts that followed occasionally throughout the show, Moore reacted with the sometimes gentle, sometimes biting humor, no doubt perfected throughout his 60-city Slacker Uprising Tour. The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay was his 42nd stop.

At one point, he responded with, “Hey. Come on. This isn’t Madison.”

Moore said he believes the war cannot be won and Bush’s claim there will be no draft is the biggest lie of the campaign.

“Bush has run out of troops. Do the math,” he said.

***************

I was quoted in the article! My friend's comment was edited: she said "Michael Moore is my hero, because he's got the guts to speak out (AGAINST BUSH'S LIES!)"
