Pfizer tracked me down at 6 of my different email addresses after I posted
flyer on BigPath saying that they wouldn't distance themselves from Sinclair and "Stolen Honor".

I've been out of town since yesterday afternoon (so please forgive me if I covering ground that's already been covered here) and found that Pfizer had someone tracked me down through email addresses I don't even normally use with this response:

"Thank you for contacting us to voice your concerns about Pfizer and advertising on Sinclair Broadcast Stations. Please be advised that we will not be advertising during the documentary, "Stolen Honor".

Pfizer buys advertising on national networks like ABC, NBC and CBS that Sinclair airs, and occasionally on local stations. Decisions about placing our advertising are guided by what programs are most likely to reach people who might benefit from messages about our medicines and the diseases they treat. Our advertising placement with a network is not in any way an endorsement of programming decisions.

We truly appreciate the time taken to express your thoughts and concerns with us, and hope this clarifies any concerns you have about our intentions as an advertiser. Thank you for allowing us to share our thoughts with you.

Yours truly,
Dorothy Wetzel Vice President, Consumer Marketing Group Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals

I'm pulling the page off my site, but just for reference, here's what it looked like:

2. They just don't get it
the Sinclair "documentary" was supposed to be shown commercial free anyway. We won't buy products or services from anyone who advertises on ANY Sinclair owned stations!

No more General Mills and Pfizer!

3. They are the only ones that make a med that I take.
I can't boycott them. Personal health problems have to overide politics at times.

6. I do hope that Viagra is not one of them...
Seriously, though. Obviously if you have to take Pfizer-made drugs you really have no choice. At least, not until the patent expires and you can get generics.

Be well.

4. They know their market well.
That bit about "What programs are most likely to reach people..."

Since Conservatives and Kool-Aid drinkers who'd watch shit like "Stolen Honor" probably have a screaming NEED for Viagra....

Limp-dicks.

5. Is that supposed to be intimidating?
Like a "we know who you are" kinda move?

You didn't use your different e-mail addresses to send boycott letters to Sinclair advertisers, right?

If you're sure they tracked you down because of your flier - that's pretty skanky of them.

BTW - I only just saw your fliers for the first time this morning from a link on atrios. Great work!

16. I think it showed desperation. The thing that struck me was that I don't
think I actually ever contacted them at their corporate citizenship email address. But, I used that email address in the flyer. So someone at Pfizer either received a copy of the printed version, or someone sent them the link to BigPath, they saw it and it somehow made an impression, because several of the email addresses I rarely use. One is my ebay email address and the others may have shown up on someone else's site.

I'm not being grandiose about this, but that flyer in print affected them enough to want to distance themselves from Sinclair. I'm impressed they were threatened enough to want to find me in any way possible. It really shows the power of the users in these forums to influence corporate decision-making.

I've pulled the page from the main site, but I left it where you folks could see it at: http://bigpath.net/politics/Pending/Index.html

7. Ah, wasn't the plan for Sinclair to show the film WITHOUT commercials?
So, none of these corporate entities are really making any concessions with their proud announcements that they "will not be running any ads during the broadcast of Stolen Honor".

People, insist they boycott Sinclair altogether, not just a program which was not gonna air commercials anyway! Jeeze, let us not be so easy.

Pfizer/Biff just got punched by George McFly...

Are they finally starting to understand we have had ENOUGH?

13. Thank God!
I emailed them and threatened to close my clinic's account with them - I was *dreading* living up to the threat.

Thank you so much for those wonderful ads - you are awesome!

15. Don't pull the flyer yet
A promise not to buy ads an a program that was to run advertising free is meaningless.

This is a complete cop-out. Either they pull all advertising from Sinclair stations, or they should be boycotted. It's that simple.

This clearly meant something to them.
