"Candidate Hit Key States With Election Still a Tossup"

Excerpt:

GOP officials who talked to Bush-Cheney campaign leaders said the leaders had grown more worried about Ohio, Florida and other key states where Bush lacks a lead with just 10 days until the election. A poll by Ohio University's Scripps Survey Research Center, completed Thursday night, found Kerry leading 49 to 43 percent among registered voters, with a margin of error of five percentage points.

Sen. Pete V. Domenici (R-N.M.), campaigning with Vice President Cheney in northwestern New Mexico, told the crowd the GOP ticket will lose the state without a lopsided local victory in San Juan County, because of heavy Democratic activity elsewhere in the state. "Without a huge margin in this county . . . we can't win this election," he said.

One Republican official described the mood at the top of the campaign as apprehensive. " 'Grim' is too strong," the official said. "If we feel this way a week from now, that will be grim."

Very, very encouraging! Are they trying to head-fake us? Or is this for real? I think that the early voting evidence shows that it's for real! They seem scared. :)

"That Republican official said polling for Bush showed him in a weaker position than some published polls, both nationally and in battlegrounds. In many of the key states, the official said, Bush is below 50 percent, and he is ahead or behind within the margin of sampling error -- a statistical tie.

"There's just no place where they're polling outside the margin of error so they can say, 'We have this state,' " the official said. "And they know that an incumbent needs to be outside the margin of error."'

They also talk about JK's mocking Bush's "hard work" line. I want to see that video. I saw the picture with JK leaning over the podium but I really want to see the tape.

22. Hopefully this part is putting spin on a very bad sitaution...
"In many of the key states, the official said, Bush is below 50 percent, and he is ahead or behind within the margin of sampling error."

Knowing BC04's propensity to parse words, I hope this really means behind in most if not all key states (i.e., ahead "or" behind). That would probably be hoping for too much though.

Finally. FINALLY.

Who reading this hasn't witnessed the power of Bush & Co.'s ridicule and mocking?

One of the strongest disincentives for "undecided" voters is the fear that they will be laughed.

I've been nashing my teeth for months at the inability/unwillingness of the Kerry politicos to return fire in a like manner.

If they're doing it now I WANT TO SEE IT!

60. saw Kerry on TV last night in Pueblo, Colorado
and he made a remark about how he was here to relieve Bush of all his "hard work" being President. It was pretty funny but pretty damn on target. I rewatched "Farenheit 9-11" last night just before watching this and was amazed at how many news clips showed Bushie man saying how he was doing the "hard work" of President and some of the footage was pre-9-11!!! It made me wonder if this is such a defining moment for little Bushie man that he is finally doing "hard work." Spoiled little brat.

The other chopper rallies were in Lakeland and Melbourne. Bush's finale was a rally for 25,000 or more at Alltel Stadium, home of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and site of next February's Super Bowl. Bush spoke from a lectern on the 50-yard line. He arrived in rock-concert-style smoke and departed to fireworks.

My only guaranteed time to read DU is the late evening, and there were an awful lot of pessimistic posts here tonight. A lot of them got debunked in one way or another... but taken together, they have a bad psychological and spiritual effect, despite the debunkings.

Come on everyone... awareness of the enemy is one thing, and is beneficial... but let's not be demoralized by fear. The article describes the Kerry campaign as being upbeat and the bushies as bordering on grim. There is bound to be a reason for that... ;)

In ten days, John Kerry will be the President-elect. Ten days. We are almost there.

We're kicking-ass in Iowa early balloting waaaaay more than in 2000.
We're slightly ahead in Nevada early balloting.
We're doing really well in Florida's early balloting.

Recent polling shows us pulling even in Iowa and Florida.
It looks like we're going to win Ohio now, and Pennsylvania will all be sealed with Nader dropping-off and Clinton rallying the cities.

Things look rosy tonight. :toast:

It is our job to counter them at every turn. It is an important job. It may seem thankless at times, but we will all give thanks on NOV 3 when we prevail. Dig in, get mad, stay strong, and kick ass!

One for external consumption (in business it's the books they keep for the IRS) and one for internal consumption (to know what they're really making).

They may be stupid enough to try and fool the public with stuff like comes from Gallup etc., but they don't rely on those polls, and their internals apparently are looking weak.

What I really liked is how he said the mood is "apprehensive." When ask if it was grim he said, IF WE FEEL THIS WAY A WEEK FROM NOW, THAT WILL BE GRIM."

58. My local Florida news had a report last night
that in early voting, the democrats were turning out in even larger proportions than expected. So even though there aren't that many more registered Dems than Repugs in Florida, more Dems were voting.

I think the campaign are looking at what's going on with Early Voting and can see the writing on the wall. BushCo is going down.

65. IS GOP Reimbursing Taxpayers for Marine Chopper One Stunt?
That is the most insulting fucking article I have ever read. This assfuck is using our helicopter to make himself into Tom Cruise? Why aren't we forcing the RNC to pay the bilL?

We have to keep the boot on the necks of these mother fu*&ers until we feel like letting them go run away like the lying cowards they are.

No time to let up... time to squash out the evil.
