I am disgusted and embarrassed by my hometown newspaper |
|
They endorse * and justify it solely on terra.... I'm so pissed right now. It has to be the single most ignorant endorsement I've read. WTF?!!! Do you see how hard it is to have a brain and live in a red state? Its frustrating and infuriating to know that I'm surrounded by complete fucking idiots who just don't care! Here's the link, If you care to read, but it will piss you off. http://www.journalstar.com/articles/2004/10/24/editorial_main/doc417b1b14969ba888690548.txt

3. Write a letter to the stupid editors |
|
After all his failures (ones he cannot admit?!?!) they can still somehow see a ray of hope for this idiot?
Quoting from the Bergen Cty, NJ endorsement:
IF you hired someone to manage your affairs, but he spent all your savings and drove you deeply into debt, you would fire him. If he insulted some of your oldest friends and turned them against you, you would fire him. If he put your children in harm's way, risked their lives, and misled you about the reasons, you would fire him.

5. When people write to Editors... |
|
Do the editors always print what people write??? I've not tried it yet because I wondered about this. Don't want to waste time writing if it doesn't get printed.
Any info on this?

I'd say they only use a very small handful of letters they receive. I have had 2 printed out of the 25 or so sent.

11. Justice, do you have a link for that endorsement? |
|
I'd love to read it. I've been looking for something just like that, put in plain, everyday words people can relate to. And boy do I know some people who need relating to. :)

The Austin American-Statesman endorses Bush tomorrow, too, and their editorial was pathetic.
I see something like that and I wonder what kind of pictures Rove has of the publisher.

THIS is an 'endorsement'?
Just this week the most feared militant group in Iraq, the movement of terror mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, declared its allegiance to Osama bin Laden, saying it had agreed with al-Qaida over strategy and the need for unity against "the enemies of Islam,'' The Associated Press reported.
The next U.S. president also will face domestic challenges. If Bush is elected to a second term, we hope he follows through on his promise to reduce the deficit. We'd like to see him improve his record on environmental issues. We hope he selects reasonable, well-balanced nominees for judicial appointments.
Those issues, however, pale in importance with the need to remain steadfast in the war against terror. President George W. Bush has proven that he will remain focused on that task with single-minded zeal. *****
WE HOPE?? When did he ever promise to reduce the deficit? Environmental issues need to be improved? Hey, yeah! Exactly. Who has put them in a terminal mess? Again, WE HOPE? he selects good judges?
STEADFAST? in the terra war? There's no doubt he is single minded and has zeal! And wtf :wtf: is that good for when on the wrong path?
zowie .. This is what we are up against. SIMPLE SINGLE MINDEDNESS!

9. I don't know if yours is a small town or not or what size |
|
but most small towns think Bush is a hero around this part of the country and most newspapers look at who their advertisers are anymore instead of what makes sense. I fully expect my town paper to support Bush. I just keep looking further than here for relief.

Because some endorsements are just so stupid you've got to respond.
Bush didn't get Osama. The military admits they let him get away at Tora Bora, which Kerry said was mishandled at the time. Bush rushed into Iraq, creating the situation where terrorists could pour in, not to mention create more. Which Kerry expressed his utter disgust about, at the time. Kerry can't get help from the UN, because gee, they can't even do anything about Darfur. Never mind the fact that the US can't lead on the issue because all our troops are in Iraq, which is Bush's fault. We still don't have the antrhax terrorist, and Bush can't even get us flu vaccines, let alone anthrax vaccines. You have to do more than be a cheerleader. We know Bush is a great cheerleader. He was good at it at Yale, he was good at it when he stood up there with his bullhorn next to that firefighter after 9/11. But cheerleaders aren't on the playing field. They don't create or execute the winning strategy. Bush has completely failed at fighting the war on terror OR the war in Iraq. And yet this country obediently follows him. I think it has a whole lot more to do with the big "R" and trumped up images of the scary liberals. He's clearly shown he has no ability to accomplish anything as he's failed at everything he's ever attempted.
Well, except cheerleading.

That has to be the single most asinine endorsement I've EVER read, and I've read at least 20 this last 2 weeks alone.
Your last line dealing with the virtue of single-mindedness is telling because it shows how simple minded you people really are.
Your use of a mysterious poll, not saying when it was taken, what the sample was or anything else, shows your contempt for the intelligence of your reading audience. Anyone not living under a rock can tell you that polls are clearly showing that John Kerry has made great strides in the minds of open minded people around this country concerning his ability to lead the war on terror.
The use of fear is nothing new in society, but to have a newspaper blatantly appeal to the fears of its readers is despicable.
George Bush was President on 9/11, the attacks on the towers and Pentagon happened under his watch. If he had taken the threat seriously from the beginning it might never had happened.
I want you to read what was written by a newspaper in Bergen City, NJ:
"If you hired someone to manage your affairs, but he spent all your savings and drove you deeply into debt, you would fire him. If he insulted some of your oldest friends and turned them against you, you would fire him. If he put your children in harm's way, risked their lives, and misled you about the reasons, you would fire him." George Bush lied and now 1100 soldiers are dead, we need to fire the liar.
George Bush is an embarrassment to this nation, and because of this ridiculous fear mongering endorsement your newspaper is an embarrassment to the people of Nebraska.
As far as I'm concerned you just lost a customer.

One thing you can say about Nebraskans – we’re a loyal bunch of folks. Texas Tech handed us our worst defeat in history this fall, and, forever optimistic we say, “We’ll show ‘em next year! GO HUSKERS!”
Loyalty to our Huskers is a good thing.
However, for this publication to ask for my continued loyalty to a failed presidency is more than I can swallow. Our country has been harmed by this president. World opinion lies in a shambles at his feet. For the first time in the history of our nation, we find ourselves to be the aggressor in an unjustified war. Contrary to the spin the Bush campaign has tried to put on the face of it, the world is a more dangerous place than it was on September 11, 2001. Our environment is being despoiled. Our economy is being bankrupted. And you tell us that Bush deserves another four years.
Shame on you!
