Voting booth attire - will they turn me away if I wear this?

I live in a predominantly Repug part of NY (Saratoga County). Should I wear it to the polls, or will I be seen as an asshole?

1. It is possible that they will turn you away for electioneering.
And they would be technically right. You should bring an extra shirt just in case. They can't deny your right to vote if you aren't wearing anything political.

4. Oops! Forgot about that...
...however, it doesn't say Kerry-Edwards (or Bush-Cheney, for that matter). Technically, I'm not sure they can say anything about it (maybe they can say something about the DU logo on the back, because it says "Democratic").

2. My son was wearing a Kerry/Edwards
T-shirt and was politely asked to zip up his jacket while inside the polling site casting his vote. Wear it if you will, but I'd cover it up while inside voting. I think the Dems need to show our values by exhibiting our respect for the election process, something most GOP don't seem to understand!

5. Here in Maine
I believe the limit one can wear is a 3" button while in the voting location. I'm sure NY has a law governing that, as well.

6. wear it proud- this is (still) America
and when I go vote, I will wear my "Trash Day-Nov. 2 2004" t-shirt showing Bush falling into a garbage can that says "Do Not Recycle".

7. In Virginia,
I haven't heard of any such rule. I would think it would fall under the same rules as for any candidate.
You can't keep the candidate from voting just because recognizing his face could be considered, by some, to be electioneering. He just can't linger around inside the polling place.

The electoral board has not told us what voters can or can't wear, they have just told us what poll workers are not allowed to wear. Our poll watchers, who sit behind the table with us, cannot wear anything that identifies them with a candidate or party either.

8. In my precinct
In my precinct previously we asked folks not to LOUDLY discuss who they were voting for after it seemed one couple was doing just that to sneak in some last second electioneering for their candidate. I'll have to ask at my training refresher class this week about buttons and shirts.

9. In Texas,
no shirts, no signs, no buttons, no conversations. It's "electioneering." We're bringing big shirts to lend to those who show up in partisan gear.

before handing me a ballot.

11. I wore my Kerry/Edwards button to vote yesterday in Vegas
No one said a word; pro or con. We have some no electioneering statutes in NV but either I didn't break those rules or no one really cared.

The poll worker was talking about how busy they were and the great turnout. I'm excited to see folks taking their voting rights seriously these days. The only good thing * has done for this country is to remind everyone what happens when we aren't vigilant.

12. Wear it inside out
That way they can't say much, and you can turn it right side out when you're 100 feet away from the polling place.

13. I'm volunteering for KidsVoting and I'll be wearing my Kerry shirt
under my sweater. Just to make me feel better.
If the kids 'elect' bush I will feel that KidsVoting is a failed experiment and this will be my last year.
