Houston Chronicle glowingly endorses the Chimperor |
|
The endorsement reads like something straight from the RNC. Total bullshit and outright lies. "Bush* inherited a recession", "Bush* victim of 9/11 attack", "Kerry indecisive", etc, etc.

DeLay is the only Repuke that they go after. He is their offering to the Dems in the area, to keep them thinking the paper has some balance. Of course, they know there in no way DeLay will lose, so it's an safe move.

Delay is only 7 points ahead of Morrison, and 23% are undecided or for 3rd party candidates.
I think we can see an upset on our hands:
Hell, John Howard nearly lost his district in the last Aussie election.

Rather selfish of them considering they inflicted him on the rest of the country in 2000.

7. So did the Knoxville News-Sentinel |
|
and was very stupid in its irony.
First, they listed off a litany of Bush failures: Bush was wrong about WMD, lied about Saddam's links to al-Qaida, botched the occupation of Iraq, has a terrible record on the environment, has done nothing about the health care crisis except give a huge government handout to pharmaceutical companies, and ran up the largest deficit in U.S. history.
And then, they proceed with this doozy: The voters "need to remember that the United States was attacked on 9/11." Anyone who disagrees is guilty of "mindless conformity" to their party.
ROFLMAO!! Mindless conformity to their party? Hahahahaha! Who suffers from that malady? NOT Democrats.
I'd post a link but, A.) It's not worth it and B.) It requires registration.

I have been eagerly searching the paper each day fully expecting an endorsement of Kerry after their endorsement of Morrison over Delay. I was so mad after reading this I can't bring myself to read the rest of the paper. I am gateful for their educator's discount of half off when deducted from my pay check, but I almost called to cancel. I know this is Texas, but here in Harris county we usually go for the Democrat in Presidential races. I will definitely let them know how disappointed I am.

11. My first letter to the editor |
|
The endorsement motivated me to send my first letter to the editor:
Your endorsement of Mr. Bush's re-election, while correctly pointing out the disappointments of his first term, rests on the assumption that in a second term, he would be "freed of the need to appeal to the extreme factions of his party," (and) "will regain his bipartisan effectiveness at solving problems"
I find this assumption highly questionable. Without the constraint of having to face another election, Mr. Bush will feel free to pursue the most extreme policies of his agenda. Unchecked, we can look forward to further erosion of safeguards to our environment, civil liberties, international relationships, and our moral leadership. Corporate interests would continue to be favored over public and private interests.
After pointing out the depth of Mr. Bush's flawed performance in his first term, it is inconceivable to me that you would support giving him another four years.
