I just received this email from Kerry/Edwards' Ohio media director and CC'd to Stephanie Cutter, David Wade, and Mike McCurry:

'I just heard from the paper that they are NOT endorsing tomorrow. They are holding off for this weekend. This is a big big victory for us that we got them to delay.

Our guidance is that we NOT do anything inflamatory with the paper. It most definitely will backlash."

Thanks to those of you here who care about Ohio and the many, many hours of work so many people both inside and outside the state are doing to ensure a fair election. That being said, some folks here sometimes go completely over the top in their responses to issues that are far more complex than they appear at first glance or without the benefit of knowing the convoluted histories inherent in Ohio politics. Please respect the K/E folks on the ground in Ohio and abide by their request.

1. Thanks for the heads up. I was just
composing an email, fax, and a DU post to encourage a letter writing campaign to the Plain Dealer.

2. Chances are, CPD will end up simply not endorsing anyone
That appears to be the compromise du jour when the editorial board want to go with Kerry and the owner/publisher insists on backing the Dummy. Since he can't risk pissing off his editors, the owner takes his ball and goes home.
