Voting precious to Miss Gertie, and has been since 1920 (feel-good story)
Sweet story about a 105 yr old woman who has voted in every election since women were allowed to vote. She's a Democrat too. ;)

CENTERVILLE —

Miss Gertie's unbroken record in the presidential elections can be traced to the first Tuesday in November 1920. For the first time in this country's history, all American women were given the right to vote beginning with that election, which pitted Warren G. Harding, the Republican nominee and eventual winner, against James M. Cox, the Democratic nominee.

She remembered, too, that she voted for the Democrat, also a tradition.

''Straight up and down the ticket,'' noted a friend, Sue Nash, who lives nearby and is Miss Gertie's driver when she needs a ride.

''That's right. I voted for President Kennedy and President Carter and a lot more I can't remember. Sometimes my choice has won and sometimes not. This time I voted for Mr. Kerry,'' she said.
