From Editor and Publisher:

<snip>
Senator John Kerry continued his raid on newspapers that backed President George W. Bush in 2000, grabbing 17 new "flip-flops," as well as The Washington Post. He has now won over at least 28 papers that went for Bush in 2000, while Bush has only earned two Gore papers.
</snip>

<snip>
Kerry now leads Bush 112-69 in endorsements in E&P's exclusive tally, and by about 14.4 million to 8.6 million in the circulation of backing papers.

1. Democrat-endorsing share of papers
from 48% in 2000 to 62% in 2004.

This *must* reflect at least some shift in the electorate.

So the net pickup is 26 out of 181.

4. South Texas major daily switches from Bush 2000 to Kerry in 2004
The Corpus Christi Caller-Times (circulation 83,288) went for Kerry this time around. In 2000, highly Hispanic and Catholic South Texas went for Bush over Gore by 51%.
