I just got called by a pollster. Anyone know anything about a
company called Sun Surveys, or Opinion Point? The questions were all about the presidential election. The caller ID said "Sun Surveys" but the gal taking the poll said she was with "Opinion Point". I googled them both but couldn't find any info. Call came from a Miami area code. Just curious if anyone knows who these folks are. I've never heard of them.

3. I found a couple things through google.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=%22sun+surveys%22+%2B+poll

One of them is from freeperville.

It's possibly a democratic push poller.

5. Thanks
I found them at http://www.sunsurveys.com. Hard to tell from their web site if they are dem or repub. Some of the questions sounded like they were polling for Bush.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

September 11, 2001 proved that George W. Bush is the best president of our lifetime and the only candidate who can keep us safe from terrorists.

I'm paraphrasing but that's the gist.

A lot of the questions about Kerry were about his perceived weaknesses. Do you agree or disagree that Kerry is a flip-flopper? That kind of thing.

I got the feeling they were working for the repubs.

7. Thanks for the link
My caller ID showed a Miami area code. I think the company in Australia just does online polling.

Anyway, I gave positive answers for Kerry across the board!

8. I know they did a poll in South Dakota
About Tom Daschle recently. The article indicated that a group called Sun Surveys held a focus group meeting in South Dakota, but the newspapers who researched the focus group supposedly found out that the room that the focus group was held in was reserved by Greenberg Research, a research firm that does work for Daschle. I think the article was supposed to be attacking Daschle though, so I dont know what to think.

This is not too uncommon, dfor example, ABC News has Gallop doing a lot of its polls, but every once and a while you see them referring to TNS REsearch, a Pennsylvania based company. BUt when you go to theri website, it looks like they are still under construction, and since their results closely mimic Gallop, I would not be surprised if they were set up by Gallop to do polls under another name.

ANd LO! I just answerwed the 64 million dollar question.
I have been searching but not until tonight did i FInd that TNS and Gallop are related, thus explaining why All of ABC's polls seem to track so favorably towards Bush. Ver cliver. I have been trying to locate info about TNS, and their old web site was half constructed, but the new one directly indicates that TNS and GAllop are one and the same. This is the URL. They are out of Finland, and it seems that they set up in Finland as a part of Gallop, and then the Finnish company opened shop in the U.S, in order to do polls here.Clever.
