Beyond Ballot Preference - January 14, 2004

The daily trends show Wesley Clark closing in on Howard Dean. There was a 13 percentage-point gap between Clark and Dean on January 11, an 8 percentage-point gap on January 12, and a 4 percentage-point gap on January 13. If the trend continues, and even if Dean holds his core support, Clark could tie and move in front of Dean in New Hampshire before the results from Iowa are known.

John Kerry is also benefiting from the movement away from Dean and our models indicate that John Edwards is another candidate that these voters are considering.

This race is far from being settled. Welcome to the New Hampshire primary.

2. Go Clark!
Classic campaign! Clark may even win NH at this rate. Once thought impossible, now possible.

The more people learn about Dean, the more they like Clark.

You're right....
Clark actually has a chance to win NH.

He's rising, Dean is falling.... What an amazing turn that would be.

9. I don't know if I'd go so far as to hope for a NH win
I really think Dean will win New Hampshire. I'm just glad General Clark is giving him a run for his money. A strong second for Clark will make him the big story going into the Feb. 3 primaries and is bound to give us some serious momentum. At this point though, I'm still waiting to exhale, so to speak. :-)
