8. exactly my reaction! I thought they were cute little things.
Wolves are cool, anyway. I've always liked them. Whoever thought up that ad didn't know what they were doing.

15. That's adorable!
Also, the wolfpack links to FactCheck's comments about the veracity of the ad. No surprise - it's full of lies.

7. Agree, they were not as scary as a Bush second term...
Gwen Ifill on one of the talk shows this am said when she saw the wolves look at her at the end she was really scared. I feel sorry for her as she faced a far more menacing force at the VP debates weeks earlier sitting a few feet to her left.

She's just saying what she thinks Karl Rove wants her to say. I hope she got a nice cookie from him.

9. You missed all the posts yesterday. I think this one's a flop!
The first thing I posted was "What's with the wolf ad? I don't get the reference. What in the hell are they trying to say with this ad?"

I then saw the DNC ad with the Eagle & the ostrich. It's very clear, and you don't have to try to imagin what it means!

12. The George W. Bush biopic: "Scares Us With Wolves"
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 07:55 PM by PurityOfEssence
Not coming anytime soon to a screen anywhere. When he's removed from office, he'll be more of a pariah than Richard M. Nixon.

May he live forever; plenty of friends'll tell him that god doesn't mind that he's back on that good corn likker.

13. Subject: It might be lame but the voice-over was world class.
I'm glad I cannot say the same for the concept or script.

14. Disagree
The ominous voice over is what made it so funny. The wolves just weren't scary. It makes the campaign look foolish IMO.

18. huh?

I just think she has a good voice.

On edit: truth-telling is good. She has a great voice and the cinematography was wonderful, the production values quite rich.

The IDEA was still stupid, it is still based on distortions, and it still does not work but it doesn't work while remaining good in a technical sense.

16. The woman sounds French!
Seriously, the voice over sounds like it has a foreign accent. What was Rove thinking?!

17. The chatter was about chatter
If the average viewer--like you, like me--watches and thinks, "No big," then is told it IS big, that makes her / him revisit the ad to detect where s/he got the interpretation wrong. A GOOD ad would not have nearly the strength this one has once the punditocracy starts spinning its minor virtues into major ones.
