IS THAT ALL YOU GOT? Big Anti-Kerry Scoop is a DUD! (Updated 11:30pm)
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 10:34 PM by Skinner
Joel Mowbray is going to allege that John Kerry did not meet with ALL members of the UN Security Council, as Kerry stated in a speech.

Ambassadors from several nations are going to dispute Kerry's claim that he met with all members of UN Security Council before voting to authorize use of force.

That's it folks. That's the big scoop everyone's been expecting. It's a big load of BS.

UPDATE:

The story has been posted. As I said before... Big Deal. The "Big Scoop" that everyone was waiting for is a bust:

The whores will prop that story up
so the explosives story gets buried.

Unless, of course, the whores see that their bread is going to have to be buttered on the other side by reading the writing on the wall. Then, they may give the explosives story a bit of weight.

he met with the FEMA director 19 times or something, and then 1 time he met with the assistant director, and then referred back to the time he met with AD as a time he met with the director and he got ripped in the media for dishonesty.

Remember the Mary Cheney episode? Talk about nothing, and that got two full news cycles. This will get at least that much coverage.

It's revolting and disturbing how whorish the media has become. I believe, though, that virtually nothing short of theft can stop us now. Certainly not a pathetic "revelation" like this.

that he'd said in a speech that he'd met all the members of the UNSC and that he hadn't. While I can well imagine this particular dead horse will get flogged even deader on right-wing talk radio, I can hardly imagine anybody giving a damn, nor that any of their listeners were going to have voted our way anyway.

2nd debate
Kerry - "I went to meet with the members of the Security Council in the week before we voted. I went to New York. I talked to all of them to find out how serious they were about really holding Saddam Hussein accountable. "

Speech before IWR
"I talked to Secretary General Kofi Annan at the end of last week and again felt a reiteration of the seriousness with which the United Nations takes this and that they will respond."

From the evil place (google kerry united nations security council)
"VIDEO: John Kerry claims "I met with the Security Council of the United Nations"
C-SPAN / UNITY Conference ^ | 7/8/04 | John Kerry

To: Steven W.

This is treason.
He is representing the US in a capacity he doesn't hold.

41. This can't possibly work, can it?
I mean, he makes a comment in the debate about meeting with members of the Council. Even if they argue he shouldn't have said he met with ALL of them, is that really a bigger deal, than, for example: "I don't think I ever said I wasn't worried about bin Laden. That's one of those eggs-ag-er-AY-shuns."

I mean, tell me there's no freakin' way this is a going to affect votes.

Dubya and the Cherry Tree

The young George W Bush received a new hatchet and used it to chop down his father’s prized cherry tree. His father demanded to know how the tree had fallen. George was tempted to deny his misdeed, but then, looking at his father with the smirking face of youth, brightened with the inexpressible charm of an all-conquering faith based reality, he bravely cried out: "I cannot tell an eggs-aggerayshun. Jeb did cut it with my hatchet."

53. What ambassadors might they be? And how much did they cost?
Would it be a surprise to find they were part of the coalition-of-the-purchased?

Golly, somebody sounds really desperate.

Take it down. It's stupid to acknowledge a lie especially before it hits. Plus some new people might come to the site if Mrs. Edwards comments get any press.

IS THAT ALL YOU GOT? Big Anti-Kerry Scoop is a DUD!

1. It acknowledges its a big story before it even hits.
2. Mrs. Edwards talked about the site – you might see an increase in hits.
3. Our response is defensive. Just minimize the impact not that it is not true or counter with offense.
4. Read the Churchill quote its true.
5. Think of better response if it does get legs.

Right now the only thing putting it up front does is expose the Kerry may have over stated the facts and we don’t think its big.

GET IT OFF.

55. I don't get it.
Whenever it's been made painfully obvious that the rest of the world hates Bush and wants Kerry to win, the rightwingers chant, "Foreign countries don't decide our elections, the American people decide our elections!"

Now they're going to get ambassadors from 'several' nations to say, "John Kerry never met with me?"

Yeah, that'll work. That's more important than daily headlines of deaths in Iraq and economic losses at home... (They are SO toasted.)

Puppies II: The big Monday morning scoop
by kos
Mon Oct 25th, 2004 at 01:35:09 GMT

Man, if you thought the puppies were a big disaster for the Bush campaign, wait 'till you see the BIG STORY the conservative bloggers are pinning their hopes on. Their big October Surprise.
Drudge is supposedly going to break this in an hour, based on a front-page story of the Washington (Mooney) Times by Joel Mowbray. I happen to know what that story is about--

About a year ago, Kerry said in a speech that he had met with all the members of the Security Council prior to voting to authorize Bush's Iraq War.

So I sat with the French and British, Germans, with the entire Security Council, and we spent a couple of hours talking about what they saw as the path to a united front in order to be able to deal with Saddam Hussein.

The Mooney Times piece is going to state that several of the ambassadors on the Security Council allege that Kerry did not, in fact, meet with them.
So at this point, you are saying, "Big fucking deal. So what's the big story?"

But there's nothing else to it. That's the Big Story. The one that will knock the wheels off Kerry's campaign. The one that has the Wingnut blogs wetting themselves. The one that will rescue the Bush campaign from the ineptness of the Bush Administration.

But there is a punchline -- The story is wrong. Kerry did meet with everyone.

But that's almost beside the point. If this is what they're pinning their hopes on, they're in worse shape than anyone expected.

Update: I know I haven't sourced the assertion that Kerry met with everyone. When we see the story, with the names of the ambassadors who claim not to have met with Kerry, then it'll be easy enough to refute the allegations.

I don't care how many Security Council members he met with, the bottom line is that Kerry voted to use force ... but Bush* is the one who actually used it WITHOUT good reason!

If this is all they've got and they're desperate enough to use it, then that tells me it's looking like a Kerry landslide to them and they're in panic mode.

I was the original source HERE ON FR for this story and sent it to a bunch of newsies. During the debates Kerry repeated his LIE again & I suggested this might be it the other evening on this FR Post Powerlineblog.org: We Just Got A Tip (Breaking Story on Kerry?) Post # 39 "One thing it might be would refer to a previous catch I had some months back, when Kerry spoke before the racial correspondents' convention, he stated that he had met with the UN Security Council the week before the Senate vote on the Iraq war (when he'd actually spent that time campaigning in Iowa, as I recall). I noted he made the same (erroneous) claim during the presidential debates."

.... just checked the ironically named "Free Republic." Breaking Stories board. Other than a thread, many days old, referencing this "October Surprise" coming from that idiot site Powerline....

.... there is not one thread on this subject.

Either they're all still recovering from their weekend hangovers from excessive Budweiser intake at their NASCAR tailgate parties, or even they are tacitly admitting that this is a dud.

In fact, there were two threads referencing the NYT story relative to the tons of explosives found and they're in a bit of a tizzy over its impact on The Cabal.

07:26, just checked all major boards, including latest posts: Not One Damn Thread. Just HOW many ways CAN you spell D-U-D.

108. There are 15 Security Council Members
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 08:54 AM by grumpy old fart
The Moonie Times story says:

"But of the five ambassadors on the Security Council in 2002 who were reached directly for comment, four said they had never met Mr. Kerry. The four also said that no one who worked for their countries' U.N. missions had met with Mr. Kerry either.
The former ambassadors who said on the record they had never met Mr. Kerry included the representatives of Mexico, Colombia and Bulgaria. The ambassador of a fourth country gave a similar account on the condition that his country not be identified."

In other words, Moonie Times talked to 5 of the 15 council members, and 3 minor players said they didn't talk to Kerry. OH MY GOD!! Geez Louise, what about some other countries like oh, say, China, Russia, Great Britain, France, Germany.......what a load of crap.

The WashTimes is calling Kerry a liar by saying he said he met with the entire Security Council and the WashTimes has found that he didn't meet with the representatives of Mexico, Colombia and Bulgaria.

Kerry's exact quote:
So I sat with the French and British, Germans, with the entire Security Council, and we spent a couple of hours talking about what they saw as the path to a united front in order to be able to deal with Saddam Hussein.

What the WashTimes didn't stop to think about is that maybe Kerry meant the permanent Security Council, who is the US, French, British, Russians, China.
