Hey! It's NOT over yet!! We need to work, not gloat! |
|
I, too, have been thrilled with all the great endorsements of our incredibly wonderful candidate, John Kerry! BUT.. this weekend, it seems we're getting ahead of ourselves! We have.. what?... 9 days till the election? It's too soon to be talking Cabinet, victory parties, Bush's future, etc. We're not there yet.. not yet.
Like Walt Starr's threads about being 10 points behind (just to scare us and motivate us), we have to keep thinking that way! We HAVE to!
I'm not entertaining the idea of President Kerry until that last fucking ballot is cast, and I know the Supreme Court has recessed for the holidays!!
Work.. work.. work... We're not there yet!!

I'm working on thinking up what ideas they'd use to argue against Kerry being allowed to take the office, beacues I know DAMN WELL it'll happen.
And November 2nd is still not here!

14. I posted some wierd shit about a petition to try Kerry with Treason! |
|
Some Federalistpatriot (?) group has filed a petition with Ashcroft last week to have Kerry investigated and tried with treason, among other things.. so that he CAN'T take the White House if elected. They had 180,000 signatures on it.. They're goal is to tie up Kerry's victory in the courts, and accuse him of aiding and comforting the enemy. They'll stop at nothing. I fear it won't be over on November 3rd, regardless of who won.

2. Agreed. We need to account for the dirty tricks and stolen votes. |
|
Kerry needs to win by enough to make them irrelevant. That means substantial wins in battleground states and enough electoral votes to make recounts meaningless.
This week: call, write, call, write, call. Repeat!

...I am working! I am making sure I get to every house in my precinct with, at the very least, some Kerry literature and the address of our polling place -- on a small card they can tape up or put in their wallets.

8. Do You Understand The Power Of Projecting Aura Of Being A Winner? |
|
haven't seen anyone even SUGGESTING complacencey.
There NEEDS to be an air of inevitability to a Kerry win.
Undecideds break for the percieved Winner... people want to be on the winning team.

12. Me understand power of projecting aura of winner.. thanks! |
|
Seriously, of course I understand that. It's GREAT for Kerry to project that image, and for us to be CONFIDENT. But.. the incessant threads about what will Bush do when he loses, etc., are premature. It doesn't exude confidence, it exudes a bit of naive thinking. Just remember... Can't sleep, clowns will eat me. :silly:

16. I'd like to think that.. but... |
|
what happens sometimes is those threads breed other threads, and soon.. it's a big post-election party on DU a week before the election. You and I have been here long enough to know that like a good joke, thread topics get beaten into the ground until they aren't funny anymore. I hope people put those game faces back on tomorrow... gotta work, gotta work.

...Bush somehow manages to pull this one out (or, more likely, steal it again)?
My Yankees were up 3 games to 0, look what happened to them. (sob)
Don't let that happen to Kerry!

21. agree, we need to avoid "doom and gloom" and "assume victory" |
|
mentality.
the biggest reason is because the right wingers play nasty and you know they will keep throwing out anything they can and we will have to deal with it.

We ain't won nothing yet. Nobody gets a prize for being up in the last week of October. Remember the turtle and the hare.
Lets finish this and knock 'em out cold on the 2nd. Then we can celebrate all we want!

Great post. We cannot let up for a minute. We need to ignore all polls and approach this like we are 5 points behind in every state. Roll up your sleeves and get to work!
Yes, we should have an edge with to the large numbers of new voter registrations, the younger "cell phone" crowd, etc. but we cannot take it for granted. We have to get busy and make sure we win the turnout battle. That is what this election will be about. Whichever side does it better will win, it's really that simple. Let it be us!!

I think it is VERY important to believe that a Kerry landslide is coming. It demoralizes the right. That said, we have to work our asses off like never before for the next 9 days. But, knowing in our hearts that Kerry will win will help keep us focused and THEM in a panic.
