Pittsburgh Post Gazette endorses John Kerry. A GREAT endorsement!!!

read the whole thing here:

In all of these categories, the Post-Gazette believes the United States needs a fresh start and that John Kerry can provide such leadership. A President Kerry will make the country safer because he will not take his eye off Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida. A President Kerry will look after the workers of America because he is concerned about both the haves and the have-nots.

George W. Bush's approach to the economy has been to take care of the rich, his political base; give the companies run by his campaign contributors free rein; and tell other Americans that his policies will improve their situation, eventually.

The well-to-do continue to get monster tax cuts and will get more if he is re-elected; the middle class get token savings. The economy has bled jobs during this administration; not enough have been created to outweigh the 1 million that have been lost; the outsourcing of American work overseas has proceeded without discouragement.

<snip>

Voters should reject the notion that the current administration "inherited" a bad economy or was the victim on 9/11 of previous White House policies. The state in which this nation finds itself can be traced to a single misfortune: four years of the Bush administration.

2. I've felt good about Pa for a long time!
I have relatives in Pgh (my home town) and Pgh and Phily will definately go for Kerry. As long as we get the vote out in those two areas, he will win. There just aren't that many people in the rural areas of the state to make a difference. And yes, I have a few distant relatives in Center County near State College, and they are true shrub supporters, and weird in many other ways too.

6. No, it's not - that would be the Tribune-Review
If yard signs translate into votes, Kerry will win 10-15 to 1 in Pittsburgh. I hardly know ANYONE who is for Bush around here. Good to know the Post-Gazette finally got off the fence!

7. Mellon Scaife's paper is the Pittsburgh Tribune Review
I had an interesting conversation recently with a Tribune Review reporter. He said that they received very clear directives on how they should report on the issues, and let's just say it ain't with a liberal bias.

They are the print equivalent of Fox news.

5. I went out to retrieve my Post Gazette in my bathrobe this morning, HOPING
that today's PG would include a Kerry endorsement. I was thrilled at such a glowing endorsement. I've been smiling all day.

10. P-burgh is Kerry country ... Clinton, tomorrow, will lock up Philly and
the surrounding counties.

It's the "T" you have to worry about (the bar across the top and down the middle of PA). I grew up in the T, and now live elsewhere in the T ... and it is fascist-land ... no kiddin'.

Bush is having a big rally at the Lancaster Airport tomorrow morning. Lancaster County is big-time Pug country. It will be nauseating ... and we can't get anywhere near him to protest (the last time he came here, his bus traveled through town, and he was met with lots of rude signs and screaming protesters ... plus THESE guys

http://www.thesmoketownsix.us/

(watch the little movie if you want to see brave protesters -- stripping to their thongs to make a point to Dumbya about Abu Ghraib). Their charges were dropped, by the way.

So the Bushies are takin' no chances in Amish Country this time.
