WTF! Orlando Sentinel last endorsed a Dem (LBJ) in the '64 Landslide! |
|
Johnson won with over 60% of the vote against the decent, conservative patriot Barry Goldwater.
Omens, anyone?

2. Wow! That is very encouraging. |

Last week I drove through parts of SW Virginia that probably have not gone Democratic since FDR in 1932! These are rock-ribbed Republican counties, but they were wallpapered in Kerry signs. I couldn't believe it. I was traveling with my Dad, a long-time editorial page editor and political soothsayer. Noting all the Kerry-Edwards signs, he said, 'if I didn't know better I'd say we may have a landslide on our hands."

5. Only two Democrats have won more newspaper endorsements |
|
than the Republican since 1932:
Not FDR, Not Truman, Not JFK, Not Carter.
The only two were LBJ in '64 and Clinton in '92. Should we add Kerry to that list?

8. Considering how few most Democrats have won compared to Republicans, |
|
I'd say the answer would be no.

10. endorsements won't mean crap to the fantasy-based community |
|
this is the fundamental problem - truth doesn't matter to those who have their heads in the sand and don't look at the reality of the situation, and it appears that there are a lot of these people out there

6. My dad mentioned this to me tonight |
|
I know the rightwing history of that paper and was shocked. Sure enough, he said the Sentinel endorsed the Republican senate candidate Martinez and not Castor, so this is an anti-Bush stance, not a political shift.
Orlando is in the critical I-4 corridor of Florida, the heavily populated swing voter region of the state.

9. The great thing about this endorsement is that Orlando |
|
is dead in the middle of the battleground area of the state.
