The salient thing for me about the NYT revelation

Is that this story proves that their whole WMD excuse was just a big LIE. Had Bush really believed Iraq had WMD's, they would have IMMEDIATELY secured all the KNOWN nuclear sites!

This story BLOWS the whole WMD premise for war. Pants on fire.

1. Not only that
But how can you claim to KNOW there are WMD in a country, then not secure ONE factory or stockpile, NOT ONE. You can't know something exists if you don't even know where any of it is. You can't run around the country talking about mushroom clouds and imminent threat based on suspicion.

(Just like you can't say you KNEW WMD didn't exist, if you weren't on the ground in the country to verify that fact and nobody was in 2002)

But still, I wouldn't like to see this linked to the WMD because the freepers will use it to confuse everybody. It's two separate issues, adding to one major messopotamia.

3. Well it's even worse than that.
It was imperative according to junior that we go into Iraq because of the imminent threat of WOMD. But we didn't protect one single weapons arsenal when we went in.

If we were so freaked that weapons were there, why didn't we protect the weapons when we got there?

I know the answer and have posted it here numerous times.

2. And...
If he really thought that Iraq had WMD, he wouldn't have told Pat Robertson that there would be no casualties.

4. Old news; very old.
TYhe IAEA published a letter they'd sent bush back in May 2003, saying bush had promised in writing before the invasion that he would immediately order all Iraq's nuclear facilities secured. bush didn't bother to do so, until the IAEA went public about it.

Of COURSE bush knew Iraq had no "WMD".

5. Bush continues to LIE about it
He lies about it to this day. He got "bad intelligence" - "we believed it, Kerry believed it, the UN believed it."
