Why Kerry turning down softball Fox interview?
Sean Hannity this past week broadcast an ass-kissing one-on-one TV interview with Cheney, and will be broadcasting another with Bush this week. According to him and Colmes, Kerry and Edwards were offered the same deal with Alan Colmes, one-on-one without Hannity. Why wouldn't Kerry and Edwards do that? The program reaches well over a million people (could be close to two million by now).

1. Might be a million viewers, but they're all freepers.
I wouldn't do it either. Screw their ratings! K/E will do much better talking to the real people on their campaign stops.

10. Believe it or not,
Not all Faux viewers are freepers. My mom is a Democrat and watches Faux "News". She is voting for Kerry , but for some reason still loves Faux. So maybe if Kerry went on with Colmes, he could reach a few swing voters who watch the channel.

13. Probably
Because you know they're lying so it's easier to watch the known liars than the pretend non-liars from CNN and MSNBC. It's getting to be that way for me. I can get the gist of breaking news and not get mad because I expect them to lie through their teeth and everybody to know they're lying.

23. that's exactly how i feel
it seems common knowledge that fox is a right wing mouth piece. people openly joke about it.

cnn and msnbc is worse since it's seen as objective so their whoring has much more impact. i seriously hope they continue losing ratings to fox.

15. Chances are the reason your Democratic mom watches Faux News
is because they have a lot of diversionary topics (Scott Peterson, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jackson, etc.) to make up for the lack of good news for the freepers. Perhaps your mom is a court-tv fan like my mom is. She's a Democrat, too, & a big fan of juicy scandals, & that's what attracts her to Faux News. Thank God she can differentiate bullshit when she hears it. :)

20. Yep, my mom also watches.....
She's a total dem, but when I call her in the morning she's got Fox and Friends on. She says it's like being a fly on the wall - she thinks it's funny. The woman is a saint - no way could I subject myself to that.

But, that being said - I still don't think Kerry should go on. It's like giving Faux credit for being an actual news program.

6. It validates Fox News as a legitimate news organization?
They are a RNC created "news" channel, and they produce nothing but RNC propaganda 99% of the time. For them to go on Fox News, whether the terms of that interview are good or not, would validate them as a real news organization.

you waste your time advertising on a vegaterian cooking show? Why would Kerry and Edwards waste their time on Fox?

18. Even if Colmes tries to be on the side of light
Faux is the tool of the dartk. Most interviews wind up with footage that is not used -- the inadvertant faux pas, spilled water on the lap, calling the interviewer the wrong name, whatever, that the interviewer and interviewed agree to do a re-take on. Faux would have all the rough footage available to them, and you can be sure that anything that might embarrass the Johns would quickly see the light of day, even if not used in the interview itself.

21. Two reasons:
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 02:20 AM by secular_warrior
1. It's a GOP propaganda channel, not real news. Democrats should never appear on Faux. Don't lend them any legitimacy.

2. Too risky. GOP puppet Roger Ailes runs Faux, and who's to say they won't spring a "gotcha" October surprise type of question on Kerry courtesy of Karl Rove? Why take such a risk now ?

22. If it's an interview with Colmes, it would be a "softhead" interview
Colmes: So do you like ice cream?
Kerry: It's not just about ice cream, it's about US lives.
Colmes: But do you like ice cream?
Kerry: I have more important things on my mind than ice cream.
Colmes: I like ice cream.
Kerry: Will you shut up about the ice cream?
Colmes: Mommy says if I'm good, I can have some ice cream.
Kerry: Mommy needs to take you out back and beat some sense into you.
Colmes: Is Sean Hannity my mommy?
Kerry: Of course not. He's a loud irishman, and you're a softheaded toad.
Colmes: But he takes me out back and beats me...
Kerry: I said "beats some sense," not "beats with a fence."
Colmes: When do we get ice cream?
