About the "Top Gun" crap!!!
I've heard twice now that dubya is using the theme from Top Gun as his entrance song at rallies...also that he's using dry ice created smoke and fireworks(?) to dramatize his arrival.

Any pics available?

Can you point me to a link?

5. Hmmmmmmm
I guess they rejected my suggestion of Underworld's great song "King of Snake" for their theme song.

Oh well.

7. Guess the WWE wouldn't allow him to use "Real American"
Does * wrestle midgets at these rallies now too?

Maybe Hulk Hogan will come out and give * the big leg drop at one of these rallies. I might pay to see that.

20. In Bu$h's world, what is seems and what seems is.
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 09:45 AM by DemoTex
Bu$h was a fighter pilot once, but he really wasn't. Bu$h's puppeteer, Karl Rove, is a master illusionist. Everything derives from that fact. Read David Corn's The Lies of George W. Bu$h, but take your blood pressure meds first.

In an long (8400 words) article, titled "Without a Doubt," in the magazine section of The New York Times on Sunday, October 17, author Ron Suskind wrote a chilling account (only a paragraph long) about a conversation with a Bu$h staff member. That Bu$h staff member said, essentially, that Suskind and the media were/are students of reality. While the media studies the Bu$h administration for reality, according to the Bu$h staff member, the administration is busy creating its own reality. When the newly created reality is scrutinized, the Bu$hies create yet another new reality. I wish I had a link to the article, but it is in the NYT's pay-for-view archives now.

25. Here is the exact quote from Suskind's NYT article (scary, scary shit):
The real thing is much scarier than my rough paraphrase above. I got the exact quote from the DU Archives of "Editorials & Other Articles."

The aide said that guys like me were ''in what we call the reality-based community,'' which he defined as people who ''believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.'' I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ''That's not the way the world really works anymore,'' he continued. ''We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.''

21. If he's losing his mind at this fast of a pace now
I can't wait to watch him implode after he loses.

I just hope he waits to completely lose it until after he has moved out of the White House. You know, for the sake of children and other living things.

22. I saw it on C-Span. His "appearance" in the Black Hawk to the sound of
music from Top Gun which made it look like the "Messiah" had arrived.

It was so OTT and disgusting...words can't describe it.

Shocking, too that he gets away with it. It would be laughable if he wasn't so dangerous. Maybe Jon Stewart will do something with it.

26. the top gun theme is different from "highway to the danger zone"
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 10:02 AM by SheepyMcSheepster
i just thought i would nitpick that.

the top gun theme is a slower piece that doesn't have any words and primarily features an electric guitar.

edit: the track is actually titled: Top Gun Anthem by Harold Faltermeyer/Steve Stevens

you can listen to a snippet of it here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat12085&type=page&sc=Song&qs=top+gun+anthem&cp=1&sp=Relevance&mipp=25&uq=top+gun+anthem&_requestid=14083

27. a link from Saturday's "rally"
http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041024/NEWS/410240438/0/FRONTPAGE

---------
With speakers blasting the theme from "Top Gun," Bush stepped out of the presidential helicopter, Marine One, flanked by his brother, Gov. Jeb Bush, and first lady Laura Bush. Despite a two-hour wait in the punishing heat, the crowd shouted energetically, snapped photos and waved hundreds of signs, many of them handmade.
--------

An accompanying story stated how thrilled ticket holders were and how the helicopter, upon landing, blew dirt and grass in their faces and hair. HA! :dunce:

28. Many of the signs "handmade"?
HA!

DOUBLE HA!!!!!

Handmade, homespun signs aren't allowed into campaign venues....I imagine the local YRs worked into the wee hours making "homemade" campaign signs...

It fits in so well with Demotex's post about Dubya and the gang creating their own reality......and the media bought it......

30. One article said 25,000 showed up....but C-Span pan of crowed showed
maybe 600? Whatever, it wasn't anywhere near 25,000...yet there it was listed as 25,000 because that was the "capacity" of the stadium and so the paper said 25,000 showed up to see the P-Resident. It was in WaPo, I think.
