2. Wow. Cheney's digging deep in his six-hole to get this stuff, huh? |
|
Can't run on his own merit, lacks creativity, so he takes a one liner & modifies it over & over again. What a loser.

4. wolves, 'red menace', swarthy men sneaking about with explosives... |
|
Chicken Hawk Dick sure tries to play on everyone's childhood boogey men.
Hey, Dick... about those explosives... Anything goes boom in America and I am holding you personally accountable. That stuff was under control and under surveillance before your long planned Halliburton profit-maker invasion.

6. lol, these assholes still think REAGAN won the Cold War. |
|
It couldn't be further from the truth. We didn't have a clue what was going on, with reports saying Communism was never stronger in Russia just a week before its collapse. And it collapsed because of the advent of computers and the increased flow of information, coupled with economic failure, neither of which had ANYTHING to do with Reagan or anything the United States did.

14. Pssst...It was Television, VCRs & Fax Machines That Took Down That Wall |
|
To quote a late dear friend who was in Prague during the Velvet Revolution, it was the power of the media and popular culture combined with decades of government corruption. But these wingnuts wouldn't know history or reality if it bit them, like it will next week.
The most telling thing about the fall of the Berlin wall was that most of the East Berliners who came into the West that night went shopping and went home. For years they had watched us on their TVs and now could communicate back...the walls that controlled minds started to fall and this emboldened the majority to rise up.
We're sorta witnessing something similar here as a supressed majority is using new techonology to network and communicate...getting our messages out against a strong pro-regime filter.
Unka Dick is definitely out of bullets if he has to pull this old chestnut out. Next thing he'll warn of pending attacks by Mongol Hordes, too.

15. Exactly. The Soviets defeated themselves. |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 10:10 AM by secular_warrior
Gorbachev is truly the great leader of the cold war, not conservo-fascist hack Reagan. Gorbachev was going against the grain of his own country by being so open minded to Western ideas.
The main reason the USSR fell is because the people under Gorbachev were given the choice to choose something other than the Communist Party, and they did, which precipitated the fall of the government. In this way, Gorbachev is really the one who defeated Communism.

8. Facts? who cares about facts? |
|
The media and the democrats for that matter have allowed the republicans to claim Ronny Raygun "ended" the cold war. I have never seen or heard of any reputable study that in any way concluded this. But such is the politics of myth.
Cheney takes that myth and creates another on top. Call it the house of cards argument.

maybe if china was willing to loan them as much money as they loan us.
It pisses me off when re-pubs take credit for shit like the soviet union's bankruptcy and Libya's 10 year campaign to get sanctions lifted.
the reason it works has to do with re-pubs aversion to facts.
