7. Here are the polling averages over the last 8 days of 2000's race |
|
8 days out - (Oct 30) - 5 polls, Gore averaging 5.0% down 7 days out - (Oct 31) - 7 polls, Gore averaging 3.8% down 6 days out - (Nov 1) - 5 polls, Gore averaging 4.6% down 5 days out - (Nov 2) - 9 polls, Gore averaging 3.8% down 4 days out - (Nov 3) - 6 polls, Gore averaging 4.0% down 3 days out - (Nov 4) - 6 polls, Gore averaging 4.6% down 2 days out - (Nov 5) - 13 polls, Gore averaging 3.1% down 1 day out - (Nov 6) - 7 polls, Gore averaging 1.9% down
Gore was pretty clearly closing the gap that existed on the weekend before the last full week. But on the day before election day he was almost two points down. On election day he was half a point over Bush.
LESSON: people like Bush as a guy. They agree with his platitudes. But when it comes time to vote for the guy, a portion of his support drops off. You like your neighbor Goober, but when you need a doctor you don't give Goober a scalpel.

9. Thank you DemSinceBirth! |

It's ***GREAT*** to see these reminders here.. especially when we see umpteen posts highlighting today's Gallup numbers.
Why fret over Gallup numbers when they were wrong last time.. and they'll probably be wrong next time.
Let's have a toast to the Big Dawg standing next to our next President! ~~ :toast:
