Fellow DU'ers, I never felt...
...in 2000, when it was bu$h/Gore, I didn't feel as confident as I do now about Kerry. I HATE to say anything about "oh we know he's gonna win" because we DON'T know that and there is NO telling what the Rovian Attack Machine and the Repube Jim Crow machinery will pull between now and Nov 2 -- and afterwards.

I'm just saying - it's a feeling. And believe ME, I'm no optimist. I'm well-known for my negative attitude and pessimism.

So there. God, I hope I haven't jinxed it now. Sheesh. I just thought I'd share some positive feelings and hope it keeps some of the doom & gloom away...

2. I feel 100% confident we will win.
I have been pessimistic lately, but now that it's down to the final days and no big surprise was blown at us, this is it.

WE. WILL. WIN.

3. I feel the same
in 2000 I didn't feel confident at all. But this time, I think it's going to be ours.

7. Me, the eternal pessimist, can't shake the
"Kerry in a landslide" feeling...maybe just wishful thinking, maybe just that I can't bear to consider what four more years of bu$hit will do...dunno.

It's still there. Been there about a week now. I wonder what Rovian Jeb Crow bu$hit they'll pull to counteract the huge momentum to Kerry? That is a scary thought.

The gerrymandered voting districts, the moving of polling places in predominately minority districts at the last minute, the Repube thugs at polling places to intimidate voters, the black box voting machines with no paper trail, the computerized and erroneous voter cleansing lists a la Florida 2000 being used in more (if not all) states, the tossed out voter registrations, the voters who *thought* they registered only to find out on election day they didn't...can Kerry overcome all this?

And, if this thing ends up in the goddamned Usurping Crap Court again what will happen with only six justices on duty?

10. There has been record voter turnout already
and it is favoring the Dems. Early voting historically favors the Republicans. There have been massive new registrations in voters, most of them Dems. Kerry is leading in almost all Ohio polls. He is also leading in most Florida polls. He will take a majority of the undecided vote. That would put him over the top in most national polls except for the ones like Gallup that weigh their samples towards Republicans. In 2000 most polls had Bush winning by a significant margin. This time they either show the race tied or one of the candidates up a few points. This means that Kerry is polling better than Gore ever did, and Gore won last time. The polls don't count the 40 million cell phone users in the country. The rarely poll younger people, who are going to be a significant force for Kerry this time. Kerry will win this election.

Last time no one was prepared for the theft that occurred. This time, I really think we're ready. That doesn't mean that no votes are going to be stolen, it simply means that we're not going to go quietly as we did before. Kerry knows what he's doing. He's going to win. I can feel it. People are angry. They are fed up. You don't see this in the media because they don't want you to see it. They want you to just shut up, wave your flag, and buy the products that flash across the screen. But there is a movement forming in this country, and they can only ignore it for so long.

5. You are correct.
The polls are miserable this year. Using "likely voters" is pretty disingenuous since we all know the tremendous surge in new voter registration this year. New voters are roughly 2-1 in favor of Kerry. And they *will* show up. We'll make sure of it.

9. Deep down inside, I didn't believe it last time either, until
the election was called for Gore, of course. But it felt like an upset (what an understatement!)

This time, I've been believing that we would get rid of Bush ever since Dean started getting everyone excited last year. That feeling has been building ever since.

We ARE going to win this time! And Kerry is going to be an outstanding president!

11. I'm not worried about it anymore.
I'm convinced that if Chimpy wins it will be hell on earth for the Republican party the next 2 years until we put the wooden stake in their hearts at the midterm once and for all. I'm talking 1968 all over again. Massive protests, revolution in the streets.

I think he's really going to lose, though, and we'll gain the Senate. So I await the Kerry revolution first.
