Swing staters: What's the weather going to be like in your state on 11/2?
Here in SE MI it's going to be Mostly Cloudy and 54. No rain. That and the 96% voter registration in MI, the high level of interest, and the closeness of the election, should lead to high turnout, which in MI traditionally means we win. I was worried that shitty weather might keep down the turnout and help Bush but it looks like it's going to be ok.

5. I don't see us losing.

Unemployment is higher here than the national average, the manufacturing sector has been hit especially hard, and the unions are energized to turn out the vote against Bush. The only way we lose is if Detroiters decide to stay home, and unless I'm missing something, I don't see that happening given the effort that's been made to turn out the vote this year. I don't even think Bush will carry Oakland County for sure. I saw lots of Kerry signs in Birmingham this weekend, which surprised me. Unless there are alot of previously unregistered Christian conservatives in Western MI, I don't see us losing.

Yeah, how about those Lions? Saw them at home vs. Green Bay and they stunk, then last Sunday they looked great. I think they're alot less predictable than this Presidential election in MI this year.

3. Missouri - according to the Weather Channel
at www.weather.com-
In St. Louis, specifically, it will be raining with a high of 53 election day.

Could affect turnout, if it turns out to be accurate.

4. Albuquerque
Sunny
High 58
Low 32

Should be a beautiful New Mexico autumn day.

However, I don't think NM is as much of a swing state as the news networks do. More than half the state's population live in ABQ and Santa Fe, and there's no way those two counties will go to Bush. Plus, 17,000 attended a Kerry rally in Las Cruces! Don't listen to the talking heads -- NM belongs to Kerry.

7. Looks like Southern Ohio may be in the low 60s
and partly cloudy so far.

I'll take that. It beats the hell out of 11/5/2002.

even if a large pack of wolves were eyeing me. I told my workers today that they should take as long as they need to vote.

11. Probably shitty here in Washington
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 03:18 PM by AntiCoup2k
I'm not even going to bother looking up the extended outlook because it will change at least 5 times in the next week anyway. But a typical November day around here is generally wet & miserable.

Good news is we're used to it, so it ain't gonna keep anyone from the polls.

EDIT: Just realized the title said "swing states", but some Repuke poll says we are one, right?

12. Weather is an overrated factor in election day turnout
That's if non-voters can be believed.

The Census Bureau surveys non-voters every election cycle, with a list of non-voting reasons or excuses. Weather is always at or near the absolute bottom, less than 1% and usually .6% or lower. Too busy/conflicting schedule always heads the list.
