Media are trying to paint Clinton's return as irresponsible
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 04:46 PM by BeyondGeography
It kills them that the Big Dog, whom they spent years trying to take down, has become the most respected politician in the country, if not the Western world. So they must find some way to spin his return as self-indulgent and irresponsible.

That's the subtext of all these, "Is Clinton risking damage to his health by returning to the campaign trail?", reports.

I'm watching one on Wolfie right now. Clinton told Diane Sawyer this morning that he has "tenderness," in his chest (which was cut wide open for surgery) when he wakes up in the morning. Dr. Blitzer translated that into "chest pains." Fortunately, his guest, a cardiologist, is having none of it. She corrected Wolf on the "chest pains" statement. Depending on the patient, she said, one can return to a normal schedule as soon as 3-4 weeks after surgery. This doctor thought Clinton looked well and saw no problem at all with his campaigning.

2. it's not actually about Clinton
My take is that the media are implying that Kerry is desperate to pull Clinton out of his "sick bed" so that he can charge up the base, or whathaveyou.

3. Sigh yes
Tweety was trying to get a cardiologist to say that Clinton was putting his health on the line. She, too, was having none of it and said that after 6 weeks, normal activity is possible. She also said that since Clinton loves crowds, this should be good for his health and will serve to boost his confidence. Shove it, Tweety! To be fair, he did cave in at the end.

5. It would be different if one thought they
really cared; which they don't.

9. Really. Since when did they give a &*%$# about Clinton's health?
They did their level best to GIVE him a heart attack while he was president, and now they are all tender solicitude. I don't think so.

Besides, how is irresponsible for him to endanger his own health? He's not president anymore. His health is his own personal responsibility and he has the right to endanger it if he pleases, which he isn't doing anyway.

They are such tools.

To rouse up and do what is right for the country despite some risk to one's own well-being is certainly courageous....

7. I had a double bypass in March 2000 and returned to work
5 weeks later. Yes my chest was sore, but it was from the fact that the cardiac surgeon saws through your sternum (breastbone)to get to your heart. It was a mild soreness, nothing that Advil/Tylenol wouldn't cure. No big deal.

I haven't seen the rally yet, I was up in Racine, WI seeing our next Vice President John Edwards wow the crowd there. I'll be tuned into C-Span tonight to check out John Kerry and the Big Dawg.

We are going to win this!!!!!

8. Dan Bartlett was on Fox
saying how "desperate" Kerry is in that he had to drag a "sick" man out of his "sick bed" to campaign for him :eyes:

11. LOL! Yeah, Clinton looked really sick in those photos of him, beaming
and shaking everybody's hands. As opposed to shrub, who is of course the picture of health. Not.
