HOLY SHIT - Bush approves of CIVIL UNIONS!!
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 06:15 PM by jab105
on ABC news...did my ears decieve me??

Gibson says it was not the republican platform!!

From here:

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=193746&page=1
(it's not a transcript though, I wish it was)

When asked to look at the topic from a nature versus nurture standpoint, Bush told Gibson that he's open to the possibility that nature could be the defining component when it comes to a person's sexual preference.

Meanwhile, Bush says he has not changed his ideas on what constitutes a legal marriage.

"I view the definition of marriage difference from legal arrangements that enable people to have rights. And I strongly believe that marriage ought to be defined as between, a union between a man and a woman," Bush said. "Now, having said that, states ought to be able to have the right to pass … laws that enable people to you know, be able to have rights, like others."

Bush, who supports a constitutional amendment that would define marriage as a union of a man and a woman, says he's concerned about what activist judges will do without clear guidelines.

I know, that's what Gibson said...
and Bush went, oh, well, thats not what I believe it should be left up to the states...

Isn't this Kerry's position...

Call me fucking crazy...but I must be losing it since this was the EXACT reason that Jennings just gave for why more black people were voting for Bush during this election, because they agreed with him on gay marriage...but if he's the same on gay marraige, what exactly are they agreeing on?

16. I SWEAR!!!!!!!!!!
Gibson got him, because he said that if being gay isn't a choice, then how can he deny them their civil rights...and Bush said that he wouldn't do that...and then went on about civil unions, and Gibson was like...but thats not your platform...

AGH!!!!!!

This is the same president who tried to get an amendment to BAN gay marraige!!!

It's opposite day!!

It must be extremely dire at Bush/Cheney. If Bush did come out in favor of civil unions, this is undermining the platform.

Look, it is very plain and simple. Bush is LYING once again! His approval of civil union reeks of DESPERATION to me. He knows he is losing in the numbers. The gays of this country know Bush better than to believe the words out of his mouth. I hope they all give him the middle finger! :)

39. Bush is promoting HOMOSEXUALITY!

"(AgapePress) - Several pro-family groups are reacting negatively to a recent comment by President Bush that implies he may be somewhat soft on his backing of a Constitutional amendment protecting traditional marriage."

Bush calls Pat Robertson a LIAR and supports HOMOSEXUALITY.
Bad boy, George.

43. This shows us a few things
1. Rove's strategy of only playing to the base can't win them the election and they've just realized it.
2. They're trying to quickly correct course by playing to the center in order to get the socially moderate voters (this isn't a play for the gay vote).
3. They're nervous and all over the map since their plan A didn't work as expected.
