A shocker while stuffing envelopes at Demo HQ in UBER-CONSERVATIVE...
Lancaster County, PA ... it was a mailing for newly registered Democrats (telling them where to vote, who the candidates in their area are, who their committee people are, etc.)

I don't know the number of envelopes being stuffed ... but OH MY GOD, you should have seen the huge volume of literature on those tables! Each one going to a spanking-new registered Democrat.

And this county is FASCIST-RETHUG-LAND, lemme tell you.

If we can turn these people out, Kerry will do better here than Gore did in 2000 -- which is what we're shooting for. He can't win here -- it's overwhelmingly Republican. But all those mailers going out to Dems. (and these are just the NEW ones) make me think things are turning around a bit here!

Woo hoo!

1. Thank you. One of the rare delights of a political campaign is getting
to know your neighbors a little better.

Lancaster County might be learning it is not so chock full of Bush zombies. I think counties around the nation are learning similar things.

We are going to win this year. Thank you for working for a better country.

2. Dems in Lancaster County did a great job registering new voters
I live here and work for the Sunday News. There were plenty of articles on this; for the first time in I don't know how long Repukes make up less than 60 percent of RVs.

4. I spent 16 months at Indian Town Gap Military Reservation in
the early 70's. Visited all the towns around there -- Lancaster, York, Lebanon, Annville, Harrisburg, others. Locals didn't really seem to appreciate the gappers. Could say it was fun. I was drafted and didn't want to be there -- but Nam less.

6. There was just an article in the Philadelphia paper
about Lancaster County and they talked a lot about Millersville (I'm a Marauder!!). Kerry is unlikely to win this American-taliban area, but he should improve. I go to Millersville frequently--driving up, I see a lot of Kerry signs up until you leave Oxford, PA. Then it's all Bush-Cheney in the farmland. Abortion seems to be the key issue, I think.

8. Though he might not win the COUNTY, those new Dem votes count
toward the State totals, anyway...from whence come the Electoral Votes!!

This is EXCELLENT news!!
