Dean: "It's the people, stupid!"
I predict we'll hear this again. First time I heard it was today at the CMB endorsement.

2. The Dean Rally last night on C-SPAN was incredible.
When he got driven into the building on that bus, with U-2 cranking on the speakers, after hearing Martin Sheen, Rob Reiner and Tom Harkin speak in favor of Governor Dean, I jumped out of my chair and just yelled YES! and pumped my fist in the air a few times for good measure.

His stump speech has gotten better, more refined and on message, more hope, more humor, more polished. I loved the way he invites people to participate in the campaign, not just vote, but actually become involved.

"It's the people, stupid!" indeed!

Now with the CMB endorsement, woo hoo!

Go Dean!

3. Is the CMB endorsement such a big deal?
Its not like she ran a campaign or anything, or does dean get to inherit the NOW endorsement too?

8. He wasn't calling anyone stupid
He was saying how Bill Clinton said it was the economy, stupid, but that this cycle, it's the PEOPLE, stupid. So, he wasn't calling anyone stupid, he was plaing off the Clinton war cry.

Just pointing out how darn near *everything* has been spun against Dean lately. I'm pretty sure that's what he meant. :-)

5. No, "It's The Quality Of The Candidate, Stupid"
Quality meaning Candidate's Record, Platform and Performance.

This is a representative Democracy. The Election is not about US as Dean likes to say.

It is about the various candidates and their Record, Rhetoric and Policies as well as their ability to represent our interests.

15. So then why should I vote for Clark?
"Quality meaning Candidate's Record, Platform and Performance."

Just wondering. That is, after all, why so many people have a problem with Clark- he doesn't have a record or past performance to actually be judged on. And ALL of our candidates run on the Dem platform, unique to none of them.

24. Clark's Record Is Lengthy and Laudable
Edited on Sat Jan-17-04 11:11 AM by cryingshame
It indicates someone who has an innate capacity for achieving excellence and also bringing out the best in others.

He has a reputation for improving bad situations in the bases put under his command.

Example, improving Race relations, Education, Proactively Addressing Spousal Abuse.

He has been responsible for hundreds of thousands of troops and Family members while NATO commander in Europe.

There is alot to Clark's record that indicates someone with a Liberal Mindset.

That some choose to ignore it is just a crying sham

18. On Dean
Dean is a great guy. If he was given a fair shake by the media, and at least half of his coverage had been positive, he'd be way ahead in the polls. Whether it's because the media's corporatist agenda didn't allow for Dean to be a potential candidate, or that they just wanted to pound him until they had achieved equality of candidates, like now, certainly we've seen nothing but a steady stream of negatives.

Dean was reelected five times as governor, he is one of only a few states that had a balanced budget, and has done myriad other great things in his states, but all we hear are discussions of Dixie flags, rather than the true issue of angry white males in the South. We hear about Dean calling representatives Cockroaches, but the truth is he said they scurried away like cockroaches.

I'm sick of the media's negative portrayal. The media is owned and controlled by very wealthy interests, and anyone they are trashing, we should run toward with unbridled glee. Certainly, the Ebenezer Scrooges of the world don't have our best interests at heart.

19. I have to admit, I'm completely torn
I'm totally undecided now. I used to like Gephardt, Kerry, Edwards, and Lieberman, but since coming to DU, I've discovered so much information about the Iraq War that I'm no longer sure about those four. Now I'm looking at Dean and clark, but really have no idea which one of the six choices I will settle on.

I like the way Dean is doing this thing from the grass roots.

21. Up here its Icy Cold Snow not grass
But we'll be out there all this weekend and next. Calling on our neighbors and friends.

The Dean campaign is us. Its the cost of my last three haircuts given instead to Dean because as a victim of the Bushwhacked economy, thats all I have to give.

A couple of points to ponder.

Dean has been out spent on NH/Boston TV by something like 5 to 1. The real money is being saved to fight Bush not other dems.

The campaign here is feet on the street and dialing phones. Kinda pisses off the network execs who in reality control the news.

Telemarketing robots and real people have been calling known Dean supporters at times like 10:30 week nights saying they're Dean people.

Supposed pollsters have been calling voters in NH asking tricky little questions like. "Does Judy Steinberg raising Dean's children in the Jewish faith make you question the Governors beliefs".

The dirt goes on and on.

What else has been going on along those lines?

When I see the news, it looks as if the instapundits have NO IDEA what's going on--LOL!

25. Rove at work
One example. Some of my friends have had calls from a voice saying he is Howard Dean. It's a robot that goes on to talk about how he wants to raise taxes slash the defense budget etc.

The Trusting Dems don't want to believe it goes that low and so we get division like on DU.

The best Rove work I saw was in the 2002 Senate and Governors campaigns in NH. Night before the vote thousands of signs popped up at highway exits and major intersections. The signs were in the Shaheen color scheme and had a series of neat little sayings like. "Jean Shaheen and Mark Fernald believe higher taxes are only fair" The signs were gone by midnight of election day.

29. Exactly right.
It is the people who are fed up with candidates who will compromise, bend, even support the Boob-in-Chief's war, who are supporting Dean.

Note: No offense to supporters of Kucinich or Sharpton who would also like to change the direction of our party back to one of principles before political expediency.
