http://us.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/10/26/iraq.explosives/index.html

Ok, it looks a bit different. I don't remember this comment about us being in control from March 19 in the earlier article.

"Prior to the Iraq war, the high-grade explosives at Al Qaqaa had been under the control of IAEA inspectors because the material could be used as a component in a nuclear weapon, IAEA spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said. IAEA and other U.N. inspectors left the country in March 2003 before the fighting began on March 19."

At least that starts to lay the foundation of why would it have taken from March 19 until April 10 to secure the site. (We know troops were there a week earlier, but CNN apparently hasn't accepted that yet)
And they still will not quote the anonymous Pentagon official that totally shows incompetence.

5. remember watching after u.s. troops UNSEALED the nuke materials,
then people came and took it all? back at the beginning.
was filmed and shown by those embedded news people.

now, from that cnn article:

State Department spokesman Adam Ereli:

"We, from the very beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom, did everything we could to secure arms caches throughout the country," Ereli said. "But given the number of arms and the number of caches and the extent of militarization of Iraq, it was impossible to provide 100 percent security for 100 percent of the sites, quite frankly."

***
yeah, right.

and how we all raged at them making securing the oil #1 priority...

not even to mention that they definitely had the detailed inventory of where every last bit of sealed material was.

so much for a free press, eh?

peace

6. Why can't I find this news on NBC News's website?
If it's true that NBC says the explosives were already gone, then why is that story not on their site?

7. it's a video report on their site. see if this url works...
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6323933/

A link to the video should be on the page along with an AP story that contradicts NBC's report, lol.

Something the NBC story doesn't point out is that they weren't with the first troops on the scene. US troops inspected the facilities at least a week before NBC got there.
