Bush may WANT to lose.
If Bush loses, he still keeps a certain amount of status as an ex-President. He gets a nice annual salary, and secret service protection. And he is free from the glaring spotlight constantly on him, catching all his gaffes and Bushisms. He can retire to his ranch, maybe start drinking again, and not have to deal with the mess he created in Iraq or the horrible deficit he also created. Something tells me that there is a part of Bush that would not be unhappy with this scenario.

1. I agree, he looks tired, I guess being a monster ages you.
Enjoy the ranch while you can Shrub, you'll be lucky if you don't end up in jail.

10. My thought too - the Faux Ranch was just part of a "set"
Make him look like a rough, tough "Cowboy" - all hat, not cattle.

25. I Agree!
I thunk he was drunk when he choked on the pretzel. I mean really, the best story for the most managed president ever was that the president is too stupid to chew? C'MON!!!

5. Okay, if that's the case...
... why has he been campaigning as hard as he has, instead of sticking to the WH, taking care of business?

He's too stupid to know he's not up to the job, and is determined to prove he's better than Poppy by gaining a second term.

He's fighting for re-election way too hard to be tired and ready to quit. There has to be a reason.

7. right! he doesn't want to be known as the second half...
...of the father-son one-termer presidents. That would be the ultimate smack-down of the Bush-whore dynasty.

9. the reason the chimp is fighting......
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 05:50 AM by mrbill
mr. pirate, you said it, "to prove that he is better than Poppy".

in future mythology of the planet, we will be known as the country that went to war because sadamn tried to kill his daddy.

the helen of troy story was a much more valid reason for going to war.

the white knight is talking backwards.

wish joseph campbell was still alive to comment on the situation.

on edit: spelling error

11. Joseph Campbell probably would have...
... been laughing his ass off at the obvious unfolding before him and providing dozens of historical references to what is now happening.

Perhaps the simple proof of that would be to ask Bush what he thinks of Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces and how he fits into that mythology, and to watch his expression. :P

16. the chimp missed mythology 101......
That would be a fun question to ask the chimp.

"The Hero with the Thousand Faces" should be included in any religious studies program.

Chimpy wouldn't have a clue and would probably confuse it with that Tony Randal movie, "The Thousand Faces of Some Oriental Dude."

In recent mythology, chimpy as custer.

30. Thanks for the welcomes
MrBill and newyawker99. They do make a newbie feel good. Gotta admit to feeling a rising crest of tension in my craw as the big day draws near. I don't do an-ti-ci-pa-a-tion very well, I'm afraid, so just want to surround myself with as many like-minded folks as I can find. It's good to be here.:hi:

24. well, if the theory is that he really wants to quit
he can't just tell that to all the people who are counting on him - all the CEO's and religious fanatics. He still has to campaign as hard as he can

6. His ego won't allow it....................
although I don't think he likes the job (it's HARD WORK you know) his ego won't let him want to lose. He has a feeling of entitlement, that he's owed this somehow. He loves having toadies licking his ass and catering to his every whim. He's the Emperor, and he loves to hold court over all of his loyal subjects.
I know he wants to be President of Major League Baseball. If he loses I'm sure he'll start lobbying for that position. He feels he's owed that as well.

he's too arrogant, losing would be a huge blow to his ego. He believes most Americans absolutely worship him. He loves the adoration.

12. Final days of the Fourth Reich
I posted this before on the Ultimate voter fraud thread, but I'll say it again:

When it comes time for Bush to escape to a country without an extradition treaty, I wonder if he and his sanctum of goons will be thinking about the billions of angry people who want his head on a pike, or the fact that they missed a box when it came time to shred...

15. He thinks he's been sent by God.
He thinks the election results are preordained, because God wouldn't let him lose the election. The neocons trying to fix the vote think that vote-fixing is part of God's plan.

My US Constitution says nothing about compensation for ex-Presidents as far as I know....

Can someone validate this claim? I don't believe it.

27. oh please, he doesn't need money, it's about power for him
if it was just money he would have continued doing what he was doing which was make money through corrupt means based on who his dad was.

but it's about power and ego for him. he doesn't care about the people. it's all about himself.
